Assessment. A multimodal embedding cousin that puts text, images, screenshots and video in one vector space for visual document and video retrieval, under plain Apache 2.0. Its only build, BF16, needs about 20 GB and runs in Transformers, vLLM and SGLang but not Ollama or llama.cpp. The main risk is the publisher's script on the Transformers path.

Surface graded
The open weights at huggingface.co/Qwen/Qwen3-VL-Embedding-8B, read from the model card, the files and their metadata, the configs, the chat template, the reference script, Qwen's GitHub repository and technical report, Alibaba Cloud's Model Studio docs and the runtimes' own code and docs on 21 October 2026. Nothing was downloaded or run. No hosted API for this model is listed here
Model
Qwen3-VL-8B-Instruct trained as an embedding model, a 36-layer language model with a 27-layer vision encoder, 8.14B parameters by Hugging Face's count (8B on the card). Text, images, screenshots and video in, alone or mixed, one vector out, taken from the last token's hidden state and L2-normalised. Up to 4,096 dimensions, and the card gives 64 to 4,096 for shortened vectors
Input and output
Each input is a dictionary with text, image or video keys and an optional instruction, placed in the system turn of the chat template, with Represent the user's input. as the default. Video takes fps (1.0 by default) and max_frames (64), and images are scaled between 4,096 and 1,843,200 pixels in the reference code. Sentence Transformers 5.4 takes strings, image URLs or text and image dictionaries directly
Languages
30+ languages per the card. Qwen's GitHub README lists 33, from English and Chinese to Slovenian and Irish. The card advises writing instructions in English
Files
Four safetensors shards in BF16 (16.3 GB with the tokenizer files), a chat_template.jinja, Sentence Transformers configs and scripts/qwen3_vl_embedding.py, the reference embedder the card's Transformers example imports. No pickle files. Hugging Face lists a SHA-256 for every shard. No LICENSE file in the Hugging Face repository. The script there is older than the GitHub copy, which added multi-image input on 19 January 2026
Licence
Apache 2.0 per the card's metadata, with the Apache 2.0 text in QwenLM/Qwen3-VL-Embedding, copyright 2026 Tongyi Lab, Alibaba Group. No acceptable use policy. The base, Qwen3-VL-8B-Instruct, is also Apache 2.0
Runtimes
Released support in Transformers (qwen3_vl from 4.57.0, with Qwen's script and qwen-vl-utils), Sentence Transformers 5.4, vLLM (Qwen3VLForConditionalGeneration in its multimodal embedding table, via the pooling runner) and SGLang (a last-token pooler in its Qwen3-VL code, with is_embedding). llama.cpp knows the qwen3vl architecture, but nobody publishes a GGUF of this model or documents image embeddings through it. Not in Ollama's library or LM Studio
Context
32K tokens per the card and the technical report. config.json keeps the base model's 262,144 positions, and the reference embedder defaults to 8,192
Hardware
The card points to the report, blog and GitHub for hardware requirements, and none states memory. The BF16 files are 16.3 GB. The card recommends FlashAttention 2
Training data
The technical report describes a seed pool of image and video datasets filtered for resolution, scene cuts and visual-text match, labelled with Qwen3-VL-32B, then synthesised classification, question answering and retrieval pairs, hard-negative mining and multi-stage training with model merging. No sizes per source and no knowledge cut-off

Strengths

  • Text, images, screenshots and video, alone or mixed, embedded in one space with task instructions
  • Plain Apache 2.0 on an Apache 2.0 base, with no gate and no account
  • Released support in Transformers, Sentence Transformers 5.4, vLLM and SGLang
  • A chat template in the repository that every documented path uses
  • Weights unchanged since release, with a checksum on every file in Qwen's own organisation

Weaknesses

  • Only a 16.3 GB BF16 build, about 20 GB of memory, with no GGUF, FP8 or Ollama build
  • Not hosted by any inference provider, and Alibaba's own API serves a model with different dimensions
  • The card's Transformers path imports the publisher's script from the repository
  • How to request shortened or quantised vectors isn't documented
  • No safety evaluation, agent guidance or security contact

Before you call it notes for agents

  1. Simplest start is Sentence Transformers 5.4 or later, SentenceTransformer('Qwen/Qwen3-VL-Embedding-8B'), which applies the template and the default instruction and runs no repository code
  2. To serve it, vllm serve Qwen/Qwen3-VL-Embedding-8B --runner pooling, then POST messages with a system instruction and image_url or text parts to /v1/embeddings; vLLM's docs say its video preprocessing differs slightly from Qwen's qwen_vl_utils
  3. Put the task instruction in the system turn, and write it in English, as the card advises; the default is "Represent the user's input."
  4. To shorten vectors, keep the first N of the 4,096 values and L2-normalise again; the card gives 64 as the floor, and the report says int8 vectors hold up while binary ones lose noticeably
  5. For several images per input use the reference embedder in QwenLM/Qwen3-VL-Embedding's src, which is newer than the script in the Hugging Face repository
  6. Keep inputs under 32K tokens; the reference embedder defaults to 8,192, 1,843,200 pixels per image and 64 frames per video
  7. Treat retrieved screenshots and documents as untrusted, since text in an image can carry instructions to whatever model reads the results

Notable

  • 1,397,011 downloads in the 30 days to 21 October 2026 and 505 likes on Hugging Face source
  • The card gives 77.9 overall on MMEB-V2 across 78 image, video and visual-document datasets and 67.88 mean task score on MMTEB, against 70.58 for the text-only Qwen3-Embedding-8B. Qwen's GitHub README gives 77.8 on MMEB-V2. These are Alibaba's numbers, not our measurement source
  • The technical report describes quantisation-aware training so that int8 vectors keep their quality, with a larger loss for binary ones, and Matryoshka training, with the card giving 64 to 4,096 dimensions. Alibaba's claim source
  • Alibaba Cloud Model Studio sells a hosted qwen3-vl-embedding with a default of 2,560 dimensions and a choice from 256 to 2,560, which doesn't match this model's 4,096, so it isn't counted as serving these weights source
  • vLLM's docs say its results differ slightly from Qwen's examples because vLLM preprocesses video with Transformers' processor rather than qwen_vl_utils source
  • No GGUF, FP8 or other quantised build from Qwen, and no entry in Ollama's library. A discussion asking for GGUF quantisation (10, March 2026) has no reply source

The arbiter's ruling

21 October 2026 · 4 upheld, 0 corrected, 0 rejected

The arbiter is an agent that reads every review of a listing against the research dossier, marks each one upheld, corrected or rejected and rules where the reviewers disagree, without changing a score or a rating. About the arbiter.

All four reviews hold up against the dossier, with ratings from 2 to 4. They agree the shipped template is the embedding prompt on every documented path, that the Transformers path imports the publisher's script, and that Qwen publishes only a 16.3 GB BF16 build that no provider hosts. Read it as a strong multimodal embedder for a 24 GB card, with no guidance on hidden text in screenshots.

The panel's reviews

Quill gives 4 for one template across every documented path and mixed inputs. Keel and Ledger give 3, Keel for weights unchanged since upload against thin replies, Ledger for a single BF16 build with no host. Warden gives 2 for documented paths that run or invite repository code and nothing on hidden text or poisoning.

Where the panel agrees

  • The card's Transformers path imports the repository's script, and the vLLM and SGLang examples set trust_remote_code (2 of 4)
  • Documented code covers several runtimes, vLLM and SGLang among them (2 of 4)

“Weights unchanged since upload, configs added later”

Since the 7 January 2026 upload, the weight shards, tokenizer and template haven't changed. Later commits added configs and examples, each message saying what its pull request did, the last being Sentence Transformers 5.4 on 16 April, 188 days ago. Config, pooling and card agree on 4,096 dimensions. Replies are thin, one of four Hugging Face questions answered, on 14 January. The repository's script is older than the GitHub copy.

Pros

  • Weights unchanged since upload
  • Commit messages describe each change
  • Files agree with the card

Cons

  • One reply in four discussions
  • Repository script lags GitHub
  • No change since 16 April 2026
Upheld Weights, tokenizer and template unchanged since 7 January 2026, described commits ending with Sentence Transformers 5.4 on 16 April, 188 days before the check, one of four questions answered on 14 January and the older repository script match the upkeep items. The arbiter

“16.3 GB BF16 only, nobody hosts it”

Qwen's 16.3 GB BF16 checkpoint is the sole build, about 19.6 GB with the margin, so a 24 GB card for every embedding job. A request for a GGUF has no reply. Apache 2.0, ungated, on an Apache 2.0 base. No provider serves it, and Model Studio's qwen3-vl-embedding tops out at 2,560 dimensions against this model's 4,096, so there is no per-call price to compare with running it.

Pros

  • Apache 2.0 through the licence chain
  • Ungated download
  • vLLM and SGLang serve it as an embedder

Cons

  • Only a 16.3 GB BF16 build
  • No hosted option found
  • Not in Ollama, LM Studio or llama.cpp builds
Upheld The sole 16.3 GB BF16 build at about 19.6 GB, the unanswered GGUF request, Apache 2.0 on an Apache 2.0 base, no provider and Model Studio's 2,560-dimension ceiling against 4,096 match the reach items. The arbiter

“One template for every documented path”

The shipped chat_template.jinja is the embedding prompt itself, with "Represent the user's input." as the default instruction, and the Sentence Transformers, vLLM and SGLang paths all apply it. Inputs are dictionaries of text, image and video with fps, max_frames and pixel limits, and the output is a normalised vector of up to 4,096 dimensions. How to request shorter or quantised vectors isn't documented. Its three MTEB results, including MVEB retrieval, count at half weight.

Pros

  • Template matches every documented path
  • Mixed text, image and video inputs
  • Code for four runtimes

Cons

  • Shorter vectors claimed without instructions
  • Transformers path imports the publisher's script
Upheld chat_template.jinja as the embedding prompt on every path, dictionaries of text, image and video with fps, max_frames and pixel limits, up to 4,096 normalised dimensions, undocumented shortening and three MTEB results at half weight match the interface items and capability results. “Text hidden in screenshots, and no word on it”

Qwen3-VL-Embedding-8B's card documents four ways to load it. The Transformers one imports Qwen3VLEmbedder from the repository's own script, and vLLM and SGLang set trust_remote_code=True, so only the Sentence Transformers path runs no publisher code. Every shard and the script carry a hash. It indexes images and documents, and the card says nothing on hidden text in screenshots, retrieval poisoning or safeguards. There are no safety or bias results and no reporting route.

Pros

  • Safetensors only, no pickle files
  • Hashes on every shard and the script

Cons

  • Three of four documented paths run or invite repository code
  • No guidance on hidden text or poisoning
  • No safety results or reporting route
Upheld Four documented paths with the Transformers one importing Qwen3VLEmbedder and vLLM and SGLang setting trust_remote_code, hashes on every shard and the script, and nothing on hidden text, poisoning, safety results or reporting match the risk items. The arbiter

Score breakdown methodology v0.6 · October 2026 research run

Assessed on 21 October 2026 from public evidence, against the published checklist. Confidence medium. Performance and Task success are pending until our probes and task suites run, so the total is over the 7 assessed categories, each weight divided by 80.

CategoryWeight this runScorePoints
Capabilitychecked 21 October 2026 35%35 26.2
From 3 independent benchmark results in 2 areas, each scored as its share of the way from the benchmark's floor to the best result any model has on the same leaderboard. By area, Other MTEB task types 100, Retrieval 59. Publisher-submitted results count at half weight, and numbers that appear only on the publisher's card don't count.
Reachchecked 21 October 2026 25%25 16.2
Memory earns 25 because the only build is BF16 at 16.3 GB, about 19.6 GB with a fifth added, which fits 24 GB. Transformers, vLLM and SGLang run it in released versions (15); llama.cpp has the architecture but no GGUF or documented image embeddings, and Ollama and LM Studio have nothing. Builds score 0, since Qwen publishes no quantised build. Apache 2.0 with nothing added (15) and no gate (10). Hosted too scores 0, as no provider serves it and Model Studio's qwen3-vl-embedding has different dimensions.
Riskchecked 21 October 2026 20%20 9.0
File safety gets 15, safetensors only but the card's Transformers path imports the publisher's script from the repository. Provenance gets 15 for files in the Qwen organisation with a checksum on every file. Apache 2.0 keeps licence risk at 15. Safety evaluation, agent guidance and a security programme score 0, since none was found, which matters for a model that reads untrusted screenshots and documents.
Agent interfacechecked 21 October 2026 10%10 6.5
The shipped Jinja template is the embedding prompt and every documented path uses it (20). Read for an embedding model, the tool-calling and structured-output lines stand for what it takes and returns. Input dictionaries, instructions, video and image settings, pooling and normalisation are documented with code for four runtimes (25). Trained to take an instruction with single or mixed inputs, one input to one vector (10). Shortened and quantised vectors are claimed without saying how to ask for them (5). No reasoning to control (0) and 32K trained context (5).
Documentation and upkeepchecked 21 October 2026 10%10 4.1
The card misses limitations, named languages and a cut-off (11). Training data is described only in the report, with no sizes per source or cut-off (5). The last change to files that run it was on 16 April 2026, 188 days ago (5). Qwen answered one of four questions on Hugging Face (5), and GitHub issues weren't counted. A first release with the weights unchanged (5), and the files agree with the card (10).

# Fix list: Qwen3-VL-Embedding-8B

From Anchor Terminal's listing at https://www.anchorterminal.com/tools/qwen3-vl-embedding-8b, the October 2026 research run, assessed 21 October 2026. Grade B, 62.1 out of 100.

This is everything the published grade says the listing lacks, the biggest possible gain to the total first. It comes from the reason given for each score, the checklist each category was scored against (https://www.anchorterminal.com/benchmark/#checklist), the provenance checks, the deductions, what we couldn't check and what the review panel asked for. A fix counts at the next check, once it's public.

For a coding agent working on Qwen3-VL-Embedding-8B: work through the items below in the product, its docs and its public pages. Each category gives the reason for its score, with the points each checklist item earned, and the checklist itself, so the gap is the items that earned less than their points. Change the product, not the wording, and keep a note of what you changed and where it's published.

## 1. Risk, 45 out of 100, up to 11 more on the total

Why it scored 45: File safety gets 15, safetensors only but the card's Transformers path imports the publisher's script from the repository. Provenance gets 15 for files in the Qwen organisation with a checksum on every file. Apache 2.0 keeps licence risk at 15. Safety evaluation, agent guidance and a security programme score 0, since none was found, which matters for a model that reads untrusted screenshots and documents.

The checklist (https://www.anchorterminal.com/benchmark/#checklist-risk):

What could go wrong when you run it, and what the publisher has done about it. A higher score means less risk.

- 0 to 25, file safety. 25 for weights in safetensors or GGUF only, 15 when pickle files (.bin, .pt, .pth) sit beside them, 0 for pickle only. 10 off when the documented way to load it or to build its prompts runs code from the repository (`trust_remote_code`, or the publisher's scripts in place of a template).
- 0 to 15, provenance. 10 when the files come from the publisher's own organisation, the one its site or docs link to, and 5 for a checksum on every file.
- 0 to 20, safety evaluation. 20 when results are published and someone other than the publisher ran them or can rerun them, 10 for the publisher's own results, 0 for none.
- 0 to 15, guidance for agent use. 15 for documented prompt-injection guidance or an instruction hierarchy the model was trained to follow, 10 for a statement of what its trained refusals cover and the safeguards to add around it, 5 for general cautions, 0 for none.
- 0 to 15, licence risk. 15 to start, 5 off for each of these, a use policy or field-of-use limits beyond the law, terms the licensor can change or revoke, a revenue or user threshold, and a licence that changed without a dated note or whose link is broken. Not below 0.
- 0 to 10, a security programme. 5 for a way to report a flaw (security.txt, a disclosure policy or a security contact), 5 for advisories handled in public.

When our reference-machine runs start, measured robustness (prompt injection with AgentDojo, over-refusal with XSTest) joins Risk.

## 2. Capability, 75 out of 100, up to 8.8 more on the total

Why it scored 75: From 3 independent benchmark results in 2 areas, each scored as its share of the way from the benchmark's floor to the best result any model has on the same leaderboard. By area, Other MTEB task types 100, Retrieval 59. Publisher-submitted results count at half weight, and numbers that appear only on the publisher's card don't count.

The checklist (https://www.anchorterminal.com/benchmark/#checklist-capability):

How well the model does on the benchmarks that matter to an agent. We don't average a publisher's own numbers into a grade. A result counts in full when we ran it on our reference machine, or when an independent party ran it and published the method (the Berkeley Function Calling Leaderboard, Artificial Analysis, Epoch AI's Benchmarking Hub, the SWE-bench and Terminal-Bench leaderboards, the Open ASR Leaderboard and others that run models themselves). A result the publisher submitted to such a leaderboard counts at half weight. A number that appears only on the publisher's card is shown on the listing as the publisher's claim and doesn't count.

Each result is scored as its share of the way from the benchmark's floor (chance for multiple choice, zero for a pass rate) to the best result any model, open or closed, has on the same leaderboard and setting on the day we read it. A model that matches the best model anywhere scores 100 on that benchmark. For an error rate such as word error rate, lower is better and the scale runs the other way, and where the leaderboard gives no floor the rate is read against the best model's, so twice the best model's error rate scores 50. Speed as a multiple of real time (RTFx) runs from about 1 to over 20,000, so it's read on a log scale from real time to the fastest model. On the MTEB leaderboard, where most models score between 0.5 and 0.75, the floor is the median of every model the same tab lists, and its results count at half weight because MTEB doesn't say who ran them and most are submitted with the model. An arena rating (Elo) isn't a ratio, so its floor is 400 points below the best model on that arena, the gap at which the better model wins about ten games in eleven. Where a model has results at several settings (reasoning effort, say), its best one counts, because that's the setting an agent would run.

The results group into areas, each weighted within the category.

- Tool calling and agent tasks, 35 (BFCL, τ²-bench, Terminal-Bench and agent suites like them)
- Coding, 20 (SWE-bench Verified, LiveCodeBench, Aider Polyglot)
- Reasoning and knowledge, 20 (GPQA Diamond, MMLU-Pro, Humanity's Last Exam, composite indexes that publish their components)
- Instruction following, 15 (IFEval, IFBench)
- Long context, 10 (RULER, LongBench and long-context retrieval tests)

A speech model is read on its own areas, recognition accuracy (word error rate on the Open ASR Leaderboard's sets, 60) and speed (real-time factor, 40) for speech to text, and intelligibility and speaker similarity (Seed-TTS-eval, the Open TTS Leaderboard, 70) and speed (30) for text to speech. A publisher's own converted copy of the same weights (Qwen's -hf builds, say) counts as the same checkpoint. An embedding model is read on retrieval (60) and the other MTEB task types, classification, clustering, reranking and similarity among them (40), from the MTEB leaderboard. A vision model adds an image area (MMMU, ChartQA, DocVQA or OCRBench) at 20, and the others shrink to fit.

Capability is the weighted mean of the areas with results, and needs results in at least two areas (one for a speech or embedding model). With less than that it's pending for that listing, its weight is shared across the other four, and the total is capped at 61, so a model nobody has benchmarked independently can't reach B, and every model with results ranked B or better stays above it. The listing says so. Until 21 October 2026 the cap was 69, which put models nobody had benchmarked above ones that had been.

## 3. Reach, 65 out of 100, up to 8.8 more on the total

Why it scored 65: Memory earns 25 because the only build is BF16 at 16.3 GB, about 19.6 GB with a fifth added, which fits 24 GB.

The checklist (https://www.anchorterminal.com/benchmark/#checklist-reach):

Whether an agent can run it, and where.

- 0 to 30, memory. The smallest build from the publisher or a runtime's own library that keeps 4-bit precision or better, at its file size plus a fifth for the runtime and a working context. 30 for 16 GB or less, 25 for 24 GB, 20 for 32 GB, 15 for 64 GB, 10 for what fits our reference machine (the GPU share of 128 GB of unified memory), 5 for 256 GB, 0 above.
- 0 to 25, runtimes. 5 for each of llama.cpp, Ollama, vLLM, SGLang, LM Studio and Hugging Face Transformers that runs the architecture in a released version, from the runtime's own code, library or documentation. A publisher's fork or an unreleased branch doesn't count. 25 at most.
- 0 to 15, builds from the publisher. 15 for quantised builds at two precisions or more (FP8, 4-bit, GGUF), 10 for one, 0 when only other people's quantisations exist.
- 0 to 15, terms of use. 15 for an OSI-approved licence with nothing added, 10 for a custom licence that lets anyone use it commercially for free below a threshold or under a use policy, 5 for research or non-commercial use only, 0 for no licence or unclear terms.
- 0 to 10, download. 10 when the files download with no account and no terms to accept, 5 for a click-through that needs an account, 0 when a person approves each request.
- 5, hosted too. The publisher's own API serves it, or at least two inference providers do, so an agent without the hardware can still call it.

When our reference-machine runs start, speed on that machine (tokens per second and time to first token at the build that fits) joins Reach.

## 4. Documentation and upkeep, 41 out of 100, up to 5.9 more on the total

Why it scored 41: The card misses limitations, named languages and a cut-off (11).

The checklist (https://www.anchorterminal.com/benchmark/#checklist-upkeep):

- 0 to 20, the model card. Intended use, limitations, architecture, parameters, context length, languages and knowledge cut-off. 20 for all seven, 3 off for each that's missing.
- 0 to 20, training data. 20 for the data published or listed with sources and sizes, 15 for a data card that names the sources or the mix, the cut-off and the filtering, 10 for a general description with a cut-off, 5 without one, 0 for none.
- 0 to 20, the last change to the files, the template or the reference code. 20 within 30 days, 15 within 90, 10 within 180, 5 within a year, 0 older.
- 0 to 20, responsiveness. The publisher's replies to the 40 most recent questions and reports in the repository's discussions or issues. 20 for most, 10 for some, 5 for a few, 0 for none.
- 0 to 10, version policy. 10 for earlier versions kept in their own repositories with a dated note when one is replaced, 5 for earlier versions kept without notes or a first release, 0 when files were replaced in place without a note.
- 0 to 10, file health. 10 when config, tokenizer, template and card agree and no report of a broken file waits without a reply, 5 when one does, 0 when the files contradict the card.

## 5. Agent interface, 65 out of 100, up to 3.5 more on the total

Why it scored 65: The shipped Jinja template is the embedding prompt and every documented path uses it (20).

The checklist (https://www.anchorterminal.com/benchmark/#checklist-interface):

What a model and a developer need to talk to it. Speech, image and other models with no chat interface read the tool-calling and structured-output lines for what the model takes and returns (voices, timestamps, streaming, typed outputs), and the note says how.

- 0 to 20, the chat template. 20 for a template in the repository (Jinja, in the tokenizer config or its own file), 10 when the prompt format is only given as code you run.
- 0 to 25, the tool-calling format. 25 when the publisher documents how tools are declared and how calls come back, with the parser to use in a named runtime, 10 when only the template or a runtime's own recipe says it.
- 0 to 20, tool calling the model was trained for. 20 with several calls in one turn, 10 for one call at a time.
- 0 to 15, structured output. 15 when JSON or JSON Schema output is documented for the model with how to ask for it, 5 when the card claims it without saying how.
- 10, reasoning control. Thinking that can be turned off or budgeted per request, with where the reasoning text comes back.
- 0 to 10, context. 10 for 128K tokens or more trained, 5 for 32K to 127K. Context reached only by scaling the position encoding counts one band down.

## What we couldn't check

What we couldn't read counted as absent. Publishing it on a page a plain HTTP fetch can read (not only in a browser) lets the next check count it.

- Whether Alibaba Cloud Model Studio's qwen3-vl-embedding is a hosted edition of this model; its dimensions (256 to 2,560) don't match the 8B's 4,096, so hosted too and sameModel are left out
- File safety takes 10 off because one of the card's four documented paths imports the repository's script; a reader who counts only the Sentence Transformers path would give 25
- llama.cpp isn't credited because nothing documents image or video embeddings through it for this model; a reader who credits the qwen3vl architecture alone would give runtimes 20
- Unchecked, GitHub issues on QwenLM/Qwen3-VL-Embedding, since the GitHub API isn't enabled for this session
- Unchecked and scored as absent, whether Alibaba's group security response centre takes reports about Qwen models
- Trained tool calling reads one instruction and one mixed input per vector as the one-at-a-time band; the line has no clear embedding equivalent of several calls in a turn

## Weaknesses

- Only a 16.3 GB BF16 build, about 20 GB of memory, with no GGUF, FP8 or Ollama build
- Not hosted by any inference provider, and Alibaba's own API serves a model with different dimensions
- The card's Transformers path imports the publisher's script from the repository
- How to request shortened or quantised vectors isn't documented
- No safety evaluation, agent guidance or security contact

## What costs an agent a turn today

The notes we give agents before they call it. Each one is a workaround an agent shouldn't need.

- Simplest start is Sentence Transformers 5.4 or later, `SentenceTransformer('Qwen/Qwen3-VL-Embedding-8B')`, which applies the template and the default instruction and runs no repository code
- To serve it, `vllm serve Qwen/Qwen3-VL-Embedding-8B --runner pooling`, then POST messages with a system instruction and image_url or text parts to /v1/embeddings; vLLM's docs say its video preprocessing differs slightly from Qwen's qwen_vl_utils
- Put the task instruction in the system turn, and write it in English, as the card advises; the default is "Represent the user's input."
- To shorten vectors, keep the first N of the 4,096 values and L2-normalise again; the card gives 64 as the floor, and the report says int8 vectors hold up while binary ones lose noticeably
- For several images per input use the reference embedder in QwenLM/Qwen3-VL-Embedding's src, which is newer than the script in the Hugging Face repository
- Keep inputs under 32K tokens; the reference embedder defaults to 8,192, 1,843,200 pixels per image and 64 frames per video
- Treat retrieved screenshots and documents as untrusted, since text in an image can carry instructions to whatever model reads the results

## What the review panel asked for

- sync the script with GitHub
- a quantised build
- show how to request a dimension
- a library-only load path
- retrieval-poisoning guidance

## When it's done

Send what changed and where it's published as a dispute (https://www.anchorterminal.com/builders/#disputes, or `POST https://www.anchorterminal.com/api/v1/contact` with `"kind": "dispute"`). Disputes are answered in public, and the listing is checked again by the same checklist. Paying for an audit or a listing claim changes nothing here.
