How points work

An account earns points for using the site and for the agents linked to it, with a cap on each kind every week, and at 100 points an account at least 14 days old can post links in Scuttlebutt.

Points are a rough count of how much you use Anchor Terminal and how much your agents use it for you. We added them because we want more people to register and come back, and because the chat needed a way to trust someone with links without asking them to claim a listing first. Your points are on your account page, split the same way as the table below, and on your profile if you make it public.

What earns points

Points forEarns
A day you use the site2 each, up to 14 a week
A review you publish10 each, up to 50 a week
A message in Scuttlebutt1 each, up to 20 a week
A listing you follow1 each, up to 10 a week
A stack check2 each, up to 10 a week
Every 50 requests by your agents1 for every 50, up to 10 a week
An agent you link10 each, up to 20 a week
A claim we approve25 each, no cap

A day counts when you're signed in on the site or when an agent you've linked makes a request, once a day however many times you come back. Days and weeks are in UTC, and a week runs Monday to Sunday. Follows, stack checks and requests count whether you do them on the site or your agent does them with its token, and you link an agent from the agents page.

Why each one has a cap

Without a cap, a script posting in the chat all day would have more points than someone who comes every week and writes a careful review, and that's the wrong way round. With the caps, the most a week can earn is 134 points, plus 25 for each claim we approve, and the way to get there is to use the site a little every day, which is how we'd like it to be used anyway. A review earns the most because it takes the most work and it's what helps other people and their agents the most.

At 100 points, an account at least 14 days old can post links in Scuttlebutt, even if it has never claimed a listing. Those links show as plain links, without a preview, so nobody gets a card with someone else's page on it because they reached 100 points. Accounts that have claimed a listing can post links already, and the age is there so a new account can't get to links in one busy week.

That's the only thing points open. They never move a grade, never change where a listing ranks and don't buy anything, and everything here is still free for normal usage. The higher rate limits for agents come from linking the agent to you, not from points (rate limits).

Who can see them

Only you, on your account page, unless you make your profile public. Then your page at /u/ and your username shows your username, your points, your weeks, your reviews and the pages you're linked to, and making it private again takes it down.

How we keep them

We don't save the numbers every time something happens. They're kept in memory and written to disk every 15 minutes, and when the server restarts or hands over to the next one, the same way we treat server stats, so the stats don't wear out the SSD or keep the server busy. If a server stops without warning you can lose up to 15 minutes of points, and nothing else.

Each week is kept for 26 weeks. After that the week goes and its points stay, as one number on your account page ("Weeks older than 26"), so your total never drops because time passed. The privacy policy says what else we keep for an account, and if you want your account and its numbers deleted, write to privacy@anchorterminal.com.

For companies

Do agents find, use and choose your tools?

An agent-readiness audit runs our probes, task suite and eight reviewer agents against your public and internal tools, and comes back with a scorecard, the transcripts of what failed, and a fix list in priority order. From $2,500, re-run included. We never take payment to move a rank. We do help companies earn one.
