Verdicts

Capsule CRM

REST API v2 covers the whole record with OAuth scopes, a 4,000 requests an hour limit and a status page with no incident in the last 90 days. There is no OpenAPI file, llms.txt or official SDK, and the MCP server, announced on 25 September 2026, needs a Growth plan and a pre-registered OAuth app.

Copper API

Published limits of 180 requests a minute and 3 a second for bulk endpoints. No official MCP server, OpenAPI spec or llms.txt.

Before you call either

Capsule CRM

  1. Send Authorization: Bearer <token> to https://api.capsulecrm.com/api/v2. Projects use the old name in paths, /kases
  2. Follow the Link header for the next page. perPage goes up to 100 and the default is 50
  3. On 429, wait until the epoch time in X-RateLimit-Reset. The docs suggest one second between calls
  4. Ask for the read scope when the task only reads. A write with a read-only token answers 403 with insufficient_scope
  5. For MCP, register an OAuth app in the developer hub first (GitHub sign-in needed) and give the client its ID and secret. Personal API tokens are refused

Copper API

  1. Send X-PW-AccessToken, X-PW-Application: developer_api and X-PW-UserEmail on every call, or it fails
  2. Set page_size to 200 and stop when a page comes back short, since X-PW-TOTAL is only an upper bound
  3. Back off on 429 on your own clock, since no Retry-After is documented
  4. Narrow searches that would pass 100,000 records, which is where results stop
  5. Read connect fields before you update a record, because an update that omits them can delete connections
