CONTEXT4AI PTE LTD · crawl4ai.com since 2024 · who's behind it
Crawl4AI is an open-source Python crawler that turns web pages into Markdown and structured data, with Crawl4AI Cloud, a hosted API and MCP server from CONTEXT4AI PTE LTD for scraping, extraction, batch jobs and web search.
Best for Agents that need cheap page-to-Markdown at volume, Google results and search in one key, or a free self-hosted Python crawler.
Viewed under 500 times in the last 30 days · Claim it, free, to see who finds it
Is this your product? Claim it to see how agents find it: lookups through the API, MCP and letme, the comparisons it's in, and what people search for in Scrapers. Free, and it never changes the grade. Or verify it, or log in if it's already claimed.
Assessment. Crawl4AI Cloud publishes a machine-readable price table, prices calls in advance, charges nothing for failed pages and gives 1,000 free credits a month. It has no status page, OpenAPI spec or SLA, its prices are a soft launch, and the open-source server behind it fixed nine critical flaws in 2026.

Strengths
- Public price table at /v1/prices, a pre-call estimate endpoint and per-call cost and balance headers
- Failed, blocked and cancelled calls aren't charged, and job submissions take an idempotency key
- 1,000 free credits a month with no card, and plans from $10 a month
- Apache-2.0 library with 87,000 GitHub stars, three releases in the 90 days to 6 November 2026 and advisories published with reporter credits
- Privacy policy gives retention periods, and the security page names subprocessors with their locations
Weaknesses
- No status page, SLA or OpenAPI spec for the cloud API found
- Prices and the free credit are marked as a soft launch, /serp is beta and /answer experimental
- The legacy cloud API was shut down on 6 November 2026 with no dated notice found
- Keys have no scopes, and the MCP

A reading by a fixed set of rules, each answered with the vendor's own sentence. It isn't legal advice, a rule can miss a clause or misread one, and the document itself is what binds. How it's read and scored.
The terms (effective 15 October 2026), privacy policy (23 September 2026) and acceptable use policy (6 August 2026) name CONTEXT4AI PTE LTD under Singapore law, with no registration number shown.
The acceptable use policy covers target sites; no clause on automated access to crawl4ai.com itself was found.
crawl4ai.com/robots.txt redirects to docs.crawl4ai.com, which answers with its 404 page, and api.crawl4ai.com/robots.txt answers 404, so no rule restricts our reader.
RDAP gives crawl4ai.com a registration date of 16 May 2024.
/.well-known/security.txt redirects to the docs site's 404 page. The security page (effective 4 October 2026) names security@crawl4ai.com and says SOC 2 is in progress. status.crawl4ai.com fails TLS and no status page is linked.
llms.txt carries setup instructions addressed to coding agents; none were acted on.

Researched 6 November 2026 from public pages. CONTRIBUTORS.md names Unclecode as project creator and main developer, Nasrin as project manager and developer and Aravind Karnam as head of community and product; the README's personal story is the creator's, who goes by Unclecode. No first-hand page gives Unclecode's full name, so the handle is used. The operating company is CONTEXT4AI PTE LTD per the terms. No investors or funding rounds were found on crawl4ai.com, its legal and security pages or the repository; the project takes GitHub Sponsors, which aren't investors. On 6 November 2026 the README (which says the cloud product at crawl4ai.com funds the library and lists sponsors, among them Kidocode and Aleph Null, which aren't investors), the creator's GitHub profile ("Author of Crawl4AI ... Founder of Kidocode") and Peak XV's 429 company pages in its sitemap were read, and a web search was run. Peak XV is named as an investor only on a secondary-market database we don't use, and Peak XV's own site has no Crawl4AI or Context4AI page, so no investor is listed. Shown for information, not part of the grade yet. People's accounts link to their own profiles; check them before you rely on one.

No OpenAPI or similar contract for the cloud API, and the MCP tool schemas are only in the live tools/list, which needs a key. /v1/prices is machine-readable but covers prices, not calls (0). llms.txt of 304 lines written for agents (10). Each endpoint says what it is for and when to choose another, such as trying without a proxy first, using browser only when auto misses content and /scrape/jobs for slow lists (16 of 20). Parameters are listed with types, defaults, allowed values (format both, md or html; proxy none, isp or residential) and limits, in prose (10 of 15). Graded 43.9 E methodology v0.7
Fix list 20 items, the biggest gain first
Everything this grade says the listing lacks, from the reasons above, the checklist, the provenance checks, the deductions, what we couldn't check and what the review panel asked for, with the steps, ready to paste into a coding agent working on Crawl4AI. A fix counts at the next check, once it's public.
You're lucky. As part of the beta, your first month is free.
What we couldn't check
- Judgement call on surface. Graded on Crawl4AI Cloud with the hosted lines, since the README and repository description now lead with it. The library on the local lines would earn the official package (20), little for CI (the security suite only), triaged issues and a CHANGELOG, and nothing for 1.0.
- Judgement call on the deduction. -10 counts one point per 2026 release that fixed a Critical or High flaw in Crawl4AI's own code, plus the 0.8.6 dependency replacement. Counting per advisory, as the Directus listing was, would reach the 15-point limit. The flaws were fixed and published with credits, and most were in the self-hosted Docker server rather than the cloud API.
- unchecked: when the shutdown of the legacy cloud API on 6 November 2026 was first announced. migrate.txt is undated and nothing in the repository dates a notice; it also says to 'keep the legacy' for screenshots and context runs, which contradicts the shutdown.
- llms.txt says repeated URLs are served from a shared archive at half price, while the security page says fetched pages are used only to answer the request; no retention period for crawled content was found.
- unchecked: the hosted MCP server's tool schemas and annotations, which need a key, and any status page (status.crawl4ai.com failed TLS on 6 November 2026).
- firstReleased is 2024-06-17, the earliest dated CHANGELOG entry (v0.2.4). The cloud launched on 25 September 2026 per the README's commit history.
- llms.txt and migrate.txt carry instructions addressed to coding agents (add the server to your own config, rewrite the user's code). None were acted on.

Tell us where it is
We read it once now and again every week. If the link is missing two weeks in a row the listing says so, and a later check puts it back.
Agents send the same to POST /api/v1/verify as {"slug": "crawl4ai", "url": "…"}, or call the verify_listing tool at /mcp. Ten checks an hour from one address. What we check. To announce the listing, get sharing assets for social media.
