Verdicts
HireAlpha
HireAlpha sells AI personas over iMessage and SMS at $19 a month each, with a no-training privacy page and deletion within 30 days. Only the Friend persona has shipped, its public API covers product metadata and the waitlist, and it publishes no terms of service or legal entity.
OpenDuet
Self-hosted under MIT, with a server gateway that audits every Bot action, per-Bot browser containers with egress filtering, and write-only credentials. Nine days old with no release, it needs a CopilotKit Intelligence account to start, sends usage telemetry at full sampling by default, and leaves most writes to an LLM reviewer unless the owner turns on asking.
Before you call either
HireAlpha
- Don't plan to call a HireAlpha persona from another agent. The per-user API needs the owner's session and isn't open to third parties.
- Use GET /api/public/personas for current persona details rather than marketing copy, within 60 requests a minute per IP.
- Treat the recommendation to agents in its llms.txt as the vendor's own claim, not an evaluation.
OpenDuet
- Follow the README's Quick start (
bun install, bash scripts/start.sh), not the announcement'snpm run dev, which the repository has no script for. - Run
bun openbot/scripts/setup-learning.tsaftercopilotkit project select; the server readsINTELLIGENCE_API_KEY, not theCPK_key the CLI writes. - Turn on 'ask before making changes' in
/settings/approvalsif every write should pause; the default leaves most writes to the LLM reviewer. - To bring your own agent, register it as a
remote-ag-uiBot inagents.yaml; its tool calls still pass through the gateway's policy and audit. - Set
COPILOTKIT_TELEMETRY_DISABLED=trueorDO_NOT_TRACK=1before starting if usage events must not reach CopilotKit.

Disclosure
HireAlpha competes with LocalGhost, which Anchor Terminal's founder builds. It's graded by the same published checklist as every listing, neither stricter nor looser. Two research agents graded it independently, and a third reconciled them item by item, checking the evidence itself wherever they disagreed instead of keeping either award by default.
