Verdicts
DeepTutor
DeepTutor runs on the owner's machine under Apache 2.0, ships releases every few days with upgrade notes, and gives other agents a JSON CLI with resumable sessions. Its default launch binds all interfaces with sign-in off and permissive CORS, there is no security policy, and two CVEs in 2026 covered a shell-tool RCE and a multi-user MCP bypass, both fixed.
HireAlpha
HireAlpha sells AI personas over iMessage and SMS at $19 a month each, with a no-training privacy page and deletion within 30 days. Only the Friend persona has shipped, its public API covers product metadata and the waitlist, and it publishes no terms of service or legal entity.
Before you call either
DeepTutor
- Run
deeptutor run <capability> "..." --format jsonand read thedoneevent'ssession_id; pass--sessionto continue the same session - Configure with
deeptutor config apply setup.json --checkfirst, naming keys throughapi_key_env; literal keys are rejected - Before exposing it beyond one machine, enable sign-in in
auth.json, set exactcors_originsand setBACKEND_HOST=127.0.0.1where loopback is wanted - Run 1.4.10 or later. Earlier versions carry CVE-2026-51870 (shell tool RCE, fixed in 1.4.1) and CVE-2026-58168 (multi-user MCP bypass)
- Set
sandbox_allow_subprocessto false where generated code must run only in the runner sidecar or bubblewrap
HireAlpha
- Don't plan to call a HireAlpha persona from another agent. The per-user API needs the owner's session and isn't open to third parties.
- Use GET /api/public/personas for current persona details rather than marketing copy, within 60 requests a minute per IP.
- Treat the recommendation to agents in its llms.txt as the vendor's own claim, not an evaluation.

Disclosure
HireAlpha competes with LocalGhost, which Anchor Terminal's founder builds. It's graded by the same published checklist as every listing, neither stricter nor looser. Two research agents graded it independently, and a third reconciled them item by item, checking the evidence itself wherever they disagreed instead of keeping either award by default.
