Why the edge

Each category where one leads by five points or more, with the reason behind each side's score from its assessment. The numbers are in the table below; this is what they stand for.

Schema & documentation Sequenzy +38

CleverTap 57

No OpenAPI file was found. A Postman collection is published as a zip on GitHub, which was not opened (6). Both docs hosts publish llms.txt and a Markdown twin of every page (10). Each endpoint page opens with an overview and use cases, and Stop Scheduled Campaign lists what happens in each campaign state. Few pages say when not to use an endpoint (13). Parameters sit in prose tables with type, required flag and sample value, with no schema and few enums (8). Request examples come in up to six languages with sample responses, and each API has an error table. The quick start recommends Python 2.7 (13). Paths carry /1/, /2/ and /v1/. SDK changelogs and product release notes are monthly, and no API changelog was found (7). Total 57.

Sequenzy 95

OpenAPI 3.1 at docs.sequenzy.com/openapi.yaml with 349 paths and 475 operations, all described (25). llms.txt on both hosts, llms-full.txt, auth.md, agents.md and Markdown twins of the docs (10). Operation and tool descriptions give purpose, the scope each needs and the alternative, such as the deprecated generate-sequence alias (18 of 20). Typed inputs, and tools reject undeclared arguments with an error naming the supported ones (13 of 15). Errors on nearly every operation (401 on 442, 404 on 330, 400 on 290) with examples, and a structured error with code, howToFix and docsUrl for tools (14 of 15). Version in the path and spec, and a dated changelog (15). Total 95.

Agent ergonomics Sequenzy +16

CleverTap 53

Get User Profiles takes batch_size and app, events and profile flags, and reports take date ranges. No field selection was found (12). Profiles and events page by cursor with next_cursor, valid for 4 days. Get Campaigns filters only by date range and lists only API-created campaigns (14). Errors use status, error and code with per-API code lists and per-record results on uploads, but Get User Profiles returns some throttling errors with HTTP 200 (13). No idempotency key was found. dryRun=1 validates uploads, estimate_only and draft hold a campaign back, and stopping a stopped campaign returns success (8). One current server library, Node.js clevertap 1.3.1. The linked Python wrapper was last changed in 2017 (6). Total 53.

Sequenzy 69

The MCP tool reference lists about 306 tools, the over-30 band, and no toolsets, tool search or dynamic loading was found (5 of 25). List endpoints paginate and filter, and contact timelines use cursors (20). Errors carry a code, a human message, a fix and a docs link, with retryAfterSeconds when the API sent Retry-After (20). Idempotency keys on sends and event imports; MCP readOnlyHint and destructiveHint annotations weren't found in the published reference (14 of 20). Sensible defaults with a selected workspace; one official SDK (TypeScript) plus a CLI (10 of 15). Total 69.

Payments & pricing Sequenzy +15

CleverTap 25

No x402, MPP or L402 (0). The Core plan's entry price is public at 85 dollars a month, re-read on 4 November, for up to 5,000 monthly active users. The larger tiers were not readable and Pro and Ultimate need a demo, so this is plan-only pricing (10). Core has a 30-day free trial. The account docs say billing details are needed before the last seven days, so 5 of the 20 points come off (15). A person signs up in a browser and creates the passcode in the dashboard (0). Total 25.

Sequenzy 40

No x402, MPP or L402 (0). Prices are public as volume tiers from $19 for 15,000 emails to $2,999 for 5 million, without a per-email overage rate (10 of 20). Free plan of 2,500 emails a month with no card (20). Agents can register through service_auth, but the user has to confirm a code in a Sequenzy browser page, and plan payment is through Stripe (10 of 20). Total 40.

Security & auth Sequenzy +11

CleverTap 56

Up to 100 named account passcodes with optional expiry, shown once and deletable, or per-user passcodes an admin can reset and revoke. No scopes or OAuth were found, and the secret travels in a header (22). No read-only passcode was found. The docs say campaigns created via API are not restricted by RBAC settings. A dashboard approval workflow exists, and draft lets an API caller save without sending (6). The API returns customer-supplied profile and event content, and no guidance for agents reading it was found (3). Audit logs record API key creation and revocation and API access logs, with CSV download and a daily export for SIEM tools (13). ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 27017, SOC 2 Type II, CSA STAR Level 2 and HIPAA are named on the pricing and security pages. The pricing page, re-read on 4 November, still names ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 27017, SOC 2 Type II and CSA STAR Level 2 and says reports are on the trust portal. clevertap.com/.well-known/security.txt answered 404 on 4 November, no disclosure policy or bug bounty was found, and the trust portal answered 403 on 9 October (12). Total 56.

Sequenzy 67

Workspace and account API keys with fine-grained permission scopes, presets and explicit *:delete rights, revocable in settings, plus an OAuth service_auth flow for agents with user confirmation (30). Read-only and drafts-only presets let an agent prepare mail without sending, and account keys keep the user's workspace role (20). The agent inbox and reply tracking give the agent inbound mail, and no prompt-injection guidance was found in the MCP, permissions or inbox docs (4 of 15). The DPA lists administrative audit logs and MCP events report replies and bounces; no per-call API log for the customer was found (8 of 15). A responsible disclosure address on the security page, no security.txt (404), bug bounty or certification (5 of 20). Total 67.

Public monthly SDK changelogs (September 2026 is the newest page) and product release notes, with support through a dashboard ticket. GitHub issue handling was not read (9). Client SDKs are current. The Node.js server library's last release is still 1.3.1 (7 July 2026), and the Python wrapper dates from 2017 (10). The Node.js library ships a Travis CI file and depends on node-fetch 2. Its CI state was not read (4). 30+20+9+10+4 = 73.

Sequenzy 78

sequenzy 2.1.56, @sequenzy/mcp 0.0.246 and @sequenzy/cli 0.0.202 were all published on 6 November 2026 (30). 18 SDK, 105 MCP and 93 CLI releases in the 90 days from 8 August, and dated changelog entries on most days (20). A closed service with a public changelog and support answered by the cofounders per the about page. GitHub issues weren't read, as the GitHub API refused our requests for its rate limit (12 of 15). Listed in the official MCP registry as io.github.polnikale/sequenzy-mcp, but the entry is at 0.0.36 against npm's 0.0.246, and the TypeScript SDK is current (10 of 15). MIT packages released daily, the MCP server and CLI still at 0.0.x (6 of 10). Total 78.

CleverTap

CleverTap's REST API uploads and reads profiles and events, creates and stops campaigns and reports results, with Markdown docs, numeric concurrency limits and a 30-day Core trial. No OpenAPI file or public status page was found, passcodes carry no scopes, and the docs say campaigns created through the API are not restricted by role-based access control.

Sequenzy

Scoped keys with read-only and drafts-only presets, a 475-operation OpenAPI spec, idempotent sends and near-daily dated releases make it workable for an agent. The MCP server lists about 306 tools, which is heavy on context, and there is no status page, SLA or published request limit table.

Before you call either

CleverTap

  1. Call the host for the account's region, such as in1.api.clevertap.com or us1.api.clevertap.com. api.clevertap.com is the Europe region
  2. Send X-CleverTap-Account-Id and X-CleverTap-Passcode headers on every call, and ask for a named passcode with an expiry date
  3. Check status in the body as well as the HTTP code. Get User Profiles can answer 200 with "status":"fail" when throttled
  4. Add dryRun=1 to an upload URL to validate up to 1,000 records without storing them
  5. Set estimate_only or draft to true on Create Campaign before a real send. API campaigns bypass dashboard role restrictions

Sequenzy

  1. Connect with a drafts-only or read-only key unless the task must send, and widen permissions only when an error names the missing scope
  2. Send an Idempotency-Key with each transactional send and reuse it unchanged after an uncertain result
  3. Read structuredContent.error.code and howToFix on a failed tool call before retrying; the client doesn't retry
  4. Call get_account and select_company first when the key can reach more than one workspace
  5. On 429 wait for Retry-After and read the RateLimit-Remaining header
