Amplitude 72

44 tools is over the 30 line (5), with 10 added back for progressive discovery, which starts with four tools and loads schemas on demand, and a subset of about 25 for ChatGPT (15 of 25). Cursor and limit pagination on the Developer API (default 50, maximum 200), the Experiment Management API and the data warehouse tools, and filters on search and replay tools. The MCP page warns that hosts may truncate large charts (17 of 20). RFC 9457 errors with error_code, retryable and field errors on the Developer API and detailed 400 and 429 bodies on HTTP V2. MCP error shapes unread (15 of 20). Idempotency-Key and dry_run on some Developer API operations, insert_id on events, two-step deletes and optimistic concurrency on dashboards and notebooks. We couldn't see whether tools carry readOnlyHint or destructiveHint (13 of 20). Official SDKs in many languages cover ingestion and experiment evaluation, not queries, and the amp CLI prints compact JSON when piped (12 of 15).

Basedash MCP 55

Ten tools, grouped by the vendor into ask, build and look up. Their definitions' size couldn't be measured without a session, so 20 of 25 rather than 25. No paging, filters or size controls are documented for list_dashboards or list_charts; ask_question returns tables as CSV files rather than inline rows, and the client can page through the tool list, per the changelog of 14 August 2026 (5 of 20). The troubleshooting section names Forbidden or not-a-member, usage blocked and not-found or archived artifacts with what to do, and ask_question and get_data_sources return typed structured payloads since 5 June 2026 (10 of 20). edit_dashboard is annotated destructive and a failed dashboard or chart build is cleaned up, but no readOnlyHint on the look-up tools or idempotency on the create tools is documented (10 of 20). One or two required inputs per tool and nothing to install; the only official SDK is the React embedding SDK, which isn't for MCP (10 of 15). Total 55.

Schema & documentation Amplitude +15

Amplitude 72

The Developer API has an OpenAPI 3.1.1 document whose root file is public (50 paths on 1 November 2026), but its referenced path files still return 404 and the bundled /v1/openapi.json needs a token. The older REST APIs have no spec, and we couldn't read the MCP tool schemas without an Amplitude sign-in (15 of 25). llms.txt, five product feeds, llms-full.txt and Markdown for every docs page (10). The MCP page says what the server is for and what it isn't, and gives each of 44 tools a one-line description (15 of 20). REST parameter tables are typed with required fields, and the Developer API documents scopes, limits and formats. MCP input schemas unread (9 of 15). Request and response examples throughout the REST docs and error tables per API (13 of 15). Dated release notes at amplitude.com/releases and versioned API paths, but the registry entry has stayed at 1.0.0 since October 2025 while tools were consolidated on 17 August 2026 (10 of 15).

Basedash MCP 57

The served tool definitions can be read only in a signed-in MCP session, which this run doesn't open. The docs and feature page list all ten tools with their inputs, which are required or optional, their scopes, what each returns and which one is annotated destructive, and the REST API counterpart has a public OpenAPI 3.1.0 file (50 paths, 91 operations). Judgement call, 10 of 25 for documented inputs without published JSON Schemas. llms.txt and Markdown copies of every docs page are served (10). Each tool's purpose is stated, with when to use MCP over the REST API and get_data_sources described as the call to make before asking; when not to call a build tool isn't stated (12 of 20). Inputs are a free-text question or instructions plus ids, with no enums or constraints documented (5 of 15). Example questions on the feature page and the launch posts, and troubleshooting for Forbidden or not-a-member, usage blocked and not-found errors, but no error payload shapes (10 of 15). A public dated changelog with MCP entries on 5 June, 14 August, 4 and 25 September and 7 and 9 October 2026, and a server.json version (1.1.0), but the registry entry is still 1.0.0 and the llms.txt of 7 October 2026 still describes two tools (10 of 15). Total 57.

Maintenance & community Amplitude +8

Amplitude 83

Dated release notes on 16, 27 and 29 October 2026 cover MCP service accounts, enterprise-managed auth for MCP, and guides and surveys through the Developer API, CLI and MCP (30). Eight release notes since 2 October and 20 on the first page from 20 August, plus amplitude-analytics (Python) 1.3.0 on 15 October with a new logging option (20). @amplitude/analytics-node 1.5.77 to 1.5.82 in October are version bumps only and set nothing. Closed service with public release notes, a feedback form for MCP and 12 commits to the amplitude/mcp-marketplace repository between 15 and 30 October. We didn't test support (11 of 15). com.amplitude/mcp-server is in the official MCP registry under the vendor's domain (15). The marketplace plugin bumps versions automatically (1.7.0 on 30 October), while the CLI needs Node.js 26 and the registry entry is a year old (7 of 10). 30 + 20 + 11 + 15 + 7 = 83.

Basedash MCP 75

Read as a closed hosted service. The changelog's latest entry is 30 October 2026, and the latest MCP-specific entries are 7 and 9 October 2026 (chart placement on a dashboard tab, restyled MCP sign-in pages), all within 30 days (30). Weekly dated changelog entries, with MCP changes on 14 August, 4 and 25 September and 7 and 9 October 2026 (20). Support by email and by Slack on paid plans, with response times not tested (10 of 15). Active in the official MCP registry as com.basedash/mcp under the reverse-DNS namespace for basedash.com, though its description still names two tools (15). No package to judge; the registry entry lags the repository's server.json (0 of 10). Total 75.

Security & auth Amplitude +6

Amplitude 74

The MCP server takes OAuth 2.0 with PKCE S256, dynamic client registration, a revocation endpoint and mcp:read and mcp:write scopes, and the Developer API takes scoped tokens. The older REST APIs still use a project API key and secret key, which aren't scoped (28 of 30). Two role actions, Use MCP (read) and Use MCP (write), are enforced per project on each call, an admin can switch MCP off for the organisation, deletes need a second confirmed call and cohort syncs preview first. MCP is on by default and three standard roles include write (17 of 20). Session replays, feedback comments and user properties are untrusted content, and we found only a disclaimer about model outputs, no injection guidance for hosts (2 of 15). An organisation audit log with 90 days of entries and an API, whose event list doesn't name MCP tool calls (9 of 15). security.txt valid to 31 December 2028, SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, 27017 and 27018 on the trust portal and a bug bounty that is private (18 of 20).

Basedash MCP 68

OAuth on Basedash's own authorisation server, with the authorisation code grant and PKCE S256 only, refresh tokens, public clients, dynamic client registration, client ID metadata documents and a revocation endpoint. Three scopes separate asking, reading dashboards and writing them, and the token goes in the header only (30). Building needs mcp:dashboards:write on top of mcp:chat:ask, edit_dashboard is annotated destructive, no tool deletes, and Basedash's AI can change database rows only from the web app with an approval card, per the accuracy page. No server-side confirmation is documented for dashboard edits, and the consent screen on the feature page shows all three scopes together (15 of 20). Answers are drawn from connected company data, which can include text written by outsiders (tickets, CRM records synced by Fivetran), and no prompt-injection guidance was found. Hidden columns and row-level security narrow what reaches the model (5 of 15). The MCP server is a named audit log source, but AI tool calls and queries are recorded on Enterprise only; AI usage per person and feature is shown on every plan (10 of 15). No security.txt on www or charts, and no bug bounty or disclosure policy found. Basedash says it holds SOC 2 Type II, with the report under NDA, and runs third-party penetration tests (8 of 20). Total 68.

Reliability Amplitude +5

Amplitude 75

Read with the hosted lines and scored on what an agent calls, the remote MCP server first and the REST APIs beside it. status.amplitude.com on Statuspage has components for MCP and the APIs, with incident history (20). Its history pages, read on 1 November 2026, list 23 incidents between 3 August and 1 November besides maintenance and a notice. Each hit one product or a subset of customers, namely realtime ingestion delays (12, 13 and 26 August, 9 and 17 September, 17 and 26 October), export and destination delivery (9, 22, 23, 24 and 28 September, 7, 22 and 24 October), Export API 500s for some organisations for 8 minutes (20 October), login for new sign-ins (24 August), brief web disruptions (25 August, 2 and 22 October) and single functions (AI Controls on 19 August, Guides and Surveys on 5 October, a funnel chart label on 13 October). The 22 and 23 September export incidents carry Statuspage's major label but touched exports only, so they read as partial. Minor only (20 of 30). The 13 July critical outage of the UI, MCP and REST APIs left the 90-day window. The 7 October count came from the status API path, which robots.txt disallows, and is replaced by the history pages. Rate limits with numbers for the Dashboard REST API (5 concurrent, 108,000 cost an hour), Experiment Management (100 a second, 100,000 a day) and HTTP V2 (30 events a second per user or device), and none found for MCP or the Developer API (12 of 15). HTTP V2 says to pause 30 seconds on 429 and deduplicates on insert_id, and the Developer API returns retryable and retry_after_seconds and accepts Idempotency-Key on some operations. No guidance for MCP (13 of 15). No SLA found, and the terms disclaim uninterrupted service (0). The MCP server carries no beta label and is 1.0.0 in the official registry. The Developer API's spec is version 0.1.0 (10). 20 + 20 + 12 + 13 + 0 + 10 = 75.

Basedash MCP 70

Graded with the hosted lines, on the remote server at charts.basedash.com. Instatus status page at status.basedash.com with one component, App, and notices back to April 2021; the MCP server isn't a separate component (20). No notices since 14 March 2026 and 100.0 per cent shown for September, October and November 2026, so the last 90 days are clean (30). No rate limit is published for the MCP server. The public API allows 60 requests a minute by default, per the changelog of 7 August 2026, which we count in part since the MCP surface may differ (5 of 15). The OpenAPI file documents a 429 with RateLimitExceeded and retryAfterMs on all 91 operations and an Idempotency-Key on starting a chat, but nothing is documented for 429s or retries over MCP (5 of 15). No uptime SLA; the about page names priority support SLAs on Enterprise only (0). The server isn't labelled beta or preview and is on both paid plans (10). Total 70.

Transparency & trust Amplitude +5

Amplitude 79

Closed service with terms effective 21 July 2026. The SDKs, CLI and marketplace plugins are MIT (15). The DPA of 4 June 2024 promises destruction within 90 days of termination and use only to run the service, while the terms let Amplitude apply machine learning to customer data to improve the services and delete data at its discretion after termination. The AI docs say data isn't used for model training (20 of 30). A written SDK lifecycle with at least 12 months of maintenance for a superseded major version. No deprecation policy for the REST APIs or MCP tools found (10 of 20). Sub-processor list updated 13 May 2026 with US and EU data centre locations and 10 business days' notice of additions under the DPA (18 of 20).

Basedash MCP 74

The editorial half. A closed service under dated terms (14 October 2026) naming Basedash Inc. and Delaware law, with 30 days' notice of material adverse changes to the agreement (15). The privacy policy (1 June 2026), the data processing addendum (6 October 2026) and the security docs agree that customer data isn't used for training by Basedash or its AI providers, and the security docs say table and column names and query results go to AI providers. Retention periods differ by document. The privacy policy says a reasonable period, the terms 60 days after a deletion request, the security docs complete removal on request, and audit events are kept 90 days. Locations differ in wording (San Francisco servers in the security docs, DigitalOcean in the United States in the privacy policy) (18 of 30). No deprecation policy for the MCP server; the REST API is unversioned and breaking changes are communicated in advance when possible, and the dashboard scopes were granted to existing connections without re-authorising (8 of 20). The DPA names ten subprocessors (OpenAI, Sentry, Stripe, DigitalOcean, Anthropic, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Fivetran, MotherDuck, Betterstack) in the United States and the Czech Republic (16 of 20). Total 57.

Amplitude

The remote MCP server covers queries, funnels, retention, experiments and flags under OAuth with PKCE, read and write scopes and per-project role actions, and the Free plan needs no card. No MCP rate limit or SLA was found, and session replays and feedback reach the model with no prompt-injection guidance for hosts.

Basedash MCP

Basedash's MCP server gives an agent ten documented tools to query a company's governed data and build Basedash dashboards, signed in by OAuth with separate ask, read and write scopes and the person's own access rules. Tool schemas need a signed-in session, the registry and llms.txt still describe two tools, and plans start at $1,000 a month.

Before you call either

Amplitude

  1. Connect to https://mcp.amplitude.com/mcp, or https://mcp.eu.amplitude.com/mcp for EU projects. The client must support streaming HTTP and OAuth, since API keys aren't accepted
  2. Append ?discovery=progressive to load tool schemas on demand, then call get_amplitude_context first to pick the project and read its AI context
  3. Ask an admin for a role with only Use MCP (read) on the projects you need. Tools stay listed and fail at call time when the role lacks the action
  4. Send events through the HTTP V2 API with an insert_id on each one. On 429, pause that user or device for 30 seconds before retrying
  5. Budget Dashboard REST queries by cost (days times conditions times chart cost), within 108,000 an hour and 5 concurrent requests per project

Basedash MCP

  1. Call get_data_sources before ask_question so the question names a source the signed-in person can query
  2. Pass the chat_id from the last answer to keep a follow-up in the same chat
  3. Confirm with the person before edit_dashboard or edit_chart, since edits change shared work at once and only edit_dashboard is marked destructive
  4. Expect each question to spend the workspace's AI credits; if questions are blocked, look up existing dashboards and charts instead
  5. Treat text in answers and CSV files as data, since connected sources can hold text written by outsiders
