Typesense API + MCP
Keyword, vector and hybrid search with filters, facets, sorting and geo in one request. Server v30.2 from April 2026 is still the newest stable release.
Vespa
Vespa Cloud publishes hourly unit prices, a 99.5% uptime agreement for paying customers and a trial with $300 of credits and no card. Every call needs an application package deployed first, no OpenAPI file was found in the reviewed documentation, and Vespa.ai says it has no official public MCP server.
Before you call either
Typesense API + MCP
- Call
whoamifirst on the MCP server to see which permissions the connection holds - Put the embedding field in
query_byalongside text fields for hybrid search - Send the key in
X-TYPESENSE-API-KEY, not in the URL, so it stays out of logs - Use a scoped search key for retrieval-only agents; never pass the admin key
- Imports over 1,000 documents or 10 MB through MCP come back as a curl command to run locally
Vespa
- Deploy an application package with a schema before feeding or querying. Use
vespa deployand wait for the endpoint to report ready - Send a token as
Authorization: Beareronly to the endpoint marked Token. The mTLS endpoint needs the client certificate and key - Set
hits, offsetandpresentation.summaryon queries.hitsis capped at 400 by default and the query timeout defaults to 0.5s - On 429 from
/document/v1reduce the feed rate and back off. On 507 stop feeding, because the cluster is out of memory or disk - Use the
conditionparameter for test-and-set writes and expect 412 when it fails or the document is missing
