Agent ergonomics Gemini Developer API +83

Gemini Developer API 93

Model reading of the checklist (tool use, structured output, caching, context, batch, SDKs, errors). Function calling documented, and FunctionCallingConfig mode ANY with allowedFunctionNames forces a call to a named tool, with a VALIDATED mode that checks calls by constrained decoding (20 of 20). The structured output page, re-read on 1 November, says output adheres to the supplied JSON Schema and is syntactically correct JSON, and names the keywords constrained decoding doesn't enforce, while asking callers to validate values (13 of 15; the 12 October note's 10 rested on the page promising no constrained decoding). Context caching at 0.1x input, $0.075 per million on 3.8 Flash until 31 December, and implicit caching on gemini-4-argon, which doesn't support explicit caches (15). 1,048,576-token context on the default and flagship models (15). Batch half price (10). Official SDKs for Python and JavaScript (10). Documented error codes with backoff guidance (10 of 15, because 400, 402 and 403 are flagged as not retryable but recovery advice per code sits on a separate page we only skimmed).

SWE-2 Flash 10

Model reading (tool use, structured output, caching, context, batch, SDKs). Tool use is Devin's harness, not something a caller configures; no context length, output limit or cache price is published for SWE-2 Flash (5 of 25). No documented output-size or reasoning controls for this model; SWE-2's effort levels aren't stated for Flash (0 of 20). No model-level error documentation (0 of 20). No idempotency or retry guidance (0 of 20). One flag or picker selects it and devin -p runs a single turn and prints to stdout, but there is no SDK or direct endpoint (5 of 15). 5 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 5 = 10.

Schema & documentation Gemini Developer API +56

Gemini Developer API 85

A keyless Discovery document at generativelanguage.googleapis.com/$discovery/rest?version=v1beta (revision 20261101, re-read on 1 November) types 86 methods and 225 schemas for GenerateContent, files, batches, caching and models, but not the Interactions API the guides now lead with (20 of 25). llms.txt at ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/llms.txt, with Markdown twins of each page (10). Reference not read in full, and the changelog and latest-model guide name the recommended models (15 of 20). Structured output accepts JSON Schema with enums, minimum, maximum, prefixItems and $ref, but the server ignores minLength, maxLength, minProperties, maxProperties and uniqueItems, per the structured output page re-read on 1 November (10 of 15). Examples on every guide and an API errors page with HTTP, blocked and content codes (15). Dated changelog and model versions (15).

SWE-2 Flash 29

Model reading. No model API, so no OpenAPI entry; the Devin v3 OpenAPI file lists SWE-2 agents only, and no model card was found (0). docs.devin.ai serves llms.txt and Markdown copies of every page (10). The launch post says what it is for (automations, code review, feature development, documentation) and the CLI docs say when to pick a SWE model, but the models pages don't list SWE-2 Flash yet (6 of 20). No documented model ID, reasoning settings, context or output limits to type (0 of 15). The CLI pages show --model and /model examples, with no model-specific errors (3 of 15). Named, dated model versions on Cognition's blog and public release notes, but no release note for SWE-2 Flash yet; the newest is 2 November (10 of 15). 0 + 10 + 6 + 0 + 3 + 10 = 29.

Maintenance & community Gemini Developer API +30

Gemini Developer API 83

Model reading. gemini-4-argon went GA on 13 October and the newest changelog entry, on 30 October, takes the Computer Use tool to GA (30). The deprecations page lists earliest possible shutdown dates and promises advance notice, with no stated minimum, and deep-research-pro-preview-12-2025 was announced on 8 October for shutdown on 23 October (4 of 12). Shutdown dates in the 90 days from 3 August include Imagen 4 on 17 August, Robotics ER 1.6 on 31 August, antigravity-preview-05-2026 on 5 October, the Veo 3.1 previews and gemini-omni-flash-preview on 22 October and deep-research-pro-preview-12-2025 on 23 October, each in the table with a replacement, and 3.7 and 3.5 Flash were deprecated on 8 October with requests routed to newer models (4 of 8). 16 dated changelog entries from 13 August to 30 October (15 of 15). SDK repository replies not sampled (5 of 10). Current official SDKs, google-genai 2.34.0 and @google/genai 2.32.0, both tagged on 29 October, with releases about weekly through October (15). Supported runtimes stated, Python 3.11 and later since 2.34.0 dropped 3.10, Node 20 and later (10).

SWE-2 Flash 53

Model reading. Released 4 November 2026 (30). Churn and notice in place of release counts: SWE-1.6, SWE-1.7, SWE-1.7 Lightning, SWE-2 (10 September) and now SWE-2 Flash in a few months, with no model deprecation notice period found and short names that move to the newest model (10 of 20). Public release notes and a support address, no public tracker (10 of 25). No official SDK for the model (0 of 15). The docs are kept current but don't yet cover this model (3 of 10). 30 + 10 + 10 + 0 + 3 = 53.

Payments & pricing Gemini Developer API +20

Gemini Developer API 40

No machine payment protocol (0). Per-token prices published without a login, re-read on 1 November (20). Free tier on 3.8 Flash, 3.6 Flash, 3.5 Flash-Lite and 3.1 Flash-Lite, not on gemini-4-argon or 3.1 Pro preview, and the rate-limits page needs only an active project for the free tier and a linked billing account from Tier 1, so the free tier needs no card (20). A Google account and AI Studio are needed for a key (0).

SWE-2 Flash 20

Published rubric. No payment protocol (0). Plan prices are public, but no per-token price for SWE-2 Flash is on a readable page; the docs' cost table loads in the browser and the post gives only 'one-fifth the price' of SWE-2 (10). Free through 30 November 2026 on Devin Desktop and CLI, but the docs say Free tier users only have SWE-1.6, so whether the Free plan reaches it, and without a card, isn't confirmed; the in-between value used on the devin listing (10). A person signs in through a browser (0). 0 + 10 + 10 + 0 = 20.

Transparency & trust Gemini Developer API +8

Gemini Developer API 72

Closed service with clear terms, SDKs Apache-2.0 (15). Terms, pricing page and logs policy agree that free-tier data improves Google products and paid data doesn't, but abuse retention on paid services has no number, and the 26 October changelog entry turns on request storage by default for new paid projects while existing projects keep their setting (20 of 30). Deprecations table with earliest shutdown dates, exact dates promised later (15 of 20). Terms say data may be cached in any country where Google has facilities. No subprocessor list checked (5 of 20).

SWE-2 Flash 64

Editorial half. Closed model under Cognition's platform terms; the weights aren't public and the sharing programme isn't described yet (15). Terms, privacy policy, security page and DPA agree, with training on self-serve data by default and no retention periods, as read for the devin listing (18). The API versioning policy covers API endpoints, not models, and no model deprecation notice was found (5 of 20). Sub-processors listed with purpose and country, per the devin listing's 8 October check (18). 15 + 18 + 5 + 18 = 56.

Reliability SWE-2 Flash +5

Gemini Developer API 45

Status page at aistudio.google.com/status (robots.txt allows it), but on 1 November it still returned a script shell titled Google AI Studio with no components or history, so 10 of 20, and 5 of 30 for the incident line with no readable record, as the Gemini Live and Gemini Embedding listings read the same page. Google Cloud's status dashboard covers Vertex AI products, not this endpoint. Per-model RPM and TPM live in AI Studio. The public rate-limits page, re-read on 1 November, publishes tier rules, spend-based limits of $10, $50 and $200 per 10 minutes for Tiers 1 to 3, and batch queue limits (5 of 15). The troubleshooting page, re-read on 1 November, gives exponential backoff with jitter for 429 RESOURCE_EXHAUSTED and 503 UNAVAILABLE, says to retry 429, 408 and 5xx and not 400, 402 or 403, and says the Python SDK retries transient errors up to four times (15). No SLA found for the Developer API (0). The flagship gemini-4-argon went GA on 13 October 2026 and the default 3.8 Flash is GA, and the Interactions API the guides lead with has been Generally Available since June 2026. The listing's example and the SDKs default to the v1beta path, which Google labels beta, but the API versions page, read on 1 November, says the stable v1 path carries the Interactions API, generateContent, function calling and structured output and supports every model, so the surface is available as GA, the reading Gemini Embedding takes on the same endpoint. Gemini Live keeps a deduction because the Live API runs on v1beta only (10). Before 13 October the only Pro model was gemini-3.1-pro-preview (5 of 10).

SWE-2 Flash 50

Model reading, for the surface it runs on, Devin Desktop and Devin CLI. Status page at www.devinstatus.com (Atlassian Statuspage) with Desktop Agent and Desktop Tab components besides the cloud ones, read on 4 November 2026 (20). The history feed for the 90 days from 6 August lists 'Devin unavailable' for 20 minutes on 13 August with no component named, read as across the board and a major as on the devin listing; Devin Cloud unavailable on 13 August and the web app down on 24 September name cloud surfaces this model doesn't use; the rest are degraded-performance incidents (new sessions on 3 September, 'multiple services' on 17 September, Ask Devin on 26 October, automation triggers on 4 November) and session queuing on 10 and 11 August, read as minor and a scheduled Devin Desktop extension marketplace upgrade on 7 August, read as maintenance. One major (10). No rate limit figures for the model or the CLI; usage is a daily and weekly quota with no numbers (0). No 429, backoff or retry guidance for this surface (0). Cognition publishes an SLA (25 February 2026) with uptime and response times that applies when included in an order form, read as a contractual SLA on Enterprise, as on other listings (10). The launch post makes it available today with no preview or beta label (10). 20 + 10 + 0 + 0 + 10 + 10 = 50.

Gemini Developer API

Free tier on 3.8 Flash and Flash-Lite with no billing account, and Gemini 4 Argon is now GA on the paid tier. Free-tier prompts and responses improve Google products and may be read by human reviewers, and the API accepts an OAuth token in the URL query string.

SWE-2 Flash

A new small coding model from Cognition that anyone can try free in Devin Desktop and Devin CLI until 30 November 2026, with strong vendor-reported coding scores. It has no model API, no published per-token price, context length or model card, and no public weights, so an agent can reach it only by driving Devin's own CLI.

Before you call either

Gemini Developer API

  1. Never send customer data through a free-tier key. Link billing first
  2. Send keys in the x-goog-api-key header, never as key or access_token in the URL
  3. Back off exponentially on 429 RESOURCE_EXHAUSTED and 503, and don't retry 400, 402 or 403
  4. Remove temperature, top_p and top_k. Gemini 4 and 3.6+ ignore them and a future release returns 400
  5. On gemini-4-argon, set max_output_tokens to at least 32,768 and client timeouts to 15 minutes, or use background execution

SWE-2 Flash

  1. There is no endpoint to call. Run Devin CLI single-turn with devin -p and pick the model with --model; the SWE-2 Flash model ID isn't documented yet, so check /model in the CLI first
  2. Don't rely on the short name swe. The docs say it resolves to the latest model in the family, which may be SWE-2 rather than SWE-2 Flash
  3. Plan for billing to start on 1 December 2026. The free period covers Devin Desktop and CLI only, not Devin cloud sessions
  4. Treat Cognition's benchmark figures as the vendor's. No independent result for SWE-2 Flash was found
  5. Keep credentials.toml private. The token in it doesn't expire by default and carries the signed-in user's access
