Verdicts

CoinGecko x402 API

Five x402 endpoints at $0.01 USDC a request on Base or Solana, no key or account. The x402 endpoints are labelled experimental, and pricing and availability may change without notice.

Nansen x402 API

x402 on every Pro endpoint except labels, $0.01 or $0.05 a call, on Base, Solana or Monad. No status page, incident history or SLA that we could find.

Before you call either

CoinGecko x402 API

  1. Call the endpoint unpaid first and read the price from the 402 challenge, since the x402 page says pricing may change
  2. Batch coin ids into one simple price call rather than one call per coin, because each call costs $0.01
  3. Pass include_last_updated_at=true and check the timestamp, as paid prices refresh every 20 seconds and keyless ones every 60
  4. Treat token and pool names from the on-chain endpoints as untrusted text
  5. Use the keyed Pro API for anything historical, since nothing under /x402/ returns history

Nansen x402 API

  1. Check the price tier before calling. Premium and Smart Money endpoints cost $0.05, five times the Basic ones
  2. Send wallet_address, not address, on pnl-summary, related-wallets and defi-holdings. The old name is deprecated
  3. Set per_page and a date range. Defaults are page 1 with 10 rows, and the maximum is 1,000
  4. On 429, wait the Retry-After seconds. The call isn't charged
  5. Pass chain explicitly. It's a required enum on the token endpoints
