Verdicts

Automation Anywhere

The Control Room's /mcp endpoint gives an MCP client three standard tools to discover, run and read automations under RBAC, with each run in the audit log. No API rate limits, error catalogue, SLA or prices were found in public pages, and DiscoverAutomation and RunAutomation need an Enterprise licence with the Process Reasoning Engine in the US or Europe.

Beam (beam.win)

Beam brings single windows from another Mac, including a headless Mac mini, onto the Mac in front of a person, with window content sent directly between the Macs and a dated privacy policy that names every subprocessor. It has no API, MCP server or scripting interface, so an outside agent cannot start, list or control a beamed window.

Before you call either

Automation Anywhere

  1. Call DiscoverAutomation with a specific query such as Discover automations to create invoice in SAP. It returns at most nine matches
  2. Keep the job ID from RunAutomation and poll GetAutomationResult until the status leaves Running/InProgress
  3. Send either X-Authorization with a token from the Authentication API or Authorization: Bearer from OAuth, never both in one request
  4. Match the case of every JSON parameter name. The Control Room API treats names as case-sensitive
  5. Use the v4 WLM endpoints. Eight v3 WLM endpoints were deprecated in v.43 and end with v.46

Beam (beam.win)

  1. Don't plan to drive Beam from an agent. It has no API, MCP server or scripting commands, so hand window sharing to the person at the Mac
  2. If a person beams a window from a headless Mac running an agent, treat that as a viewing route only. Run the agent's own tools on that Mac directly
  3. Don't install or run the Beam command line to automate it. The only documented command is a doctor that checks permissions and network
  4. Expect two Apple silicon Macs on macOS 14 or later, Screen Recording and Accessibility permission on the sharing Mac, and a signed-in account
