Which one, for what
Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Memory A
Best for Teams already on AWS that want per-user memory under IAM, KMS and Regional controls, with extraction run for them.
Ahead on
- Reliability, 88 against 65
- Schema & documentation, 92 against 55
- Agent ergonomics, 86 against 60
- Security & auth, 87 against 37
- Maintenance & community, 83 against 76
- Transparency & trust, 76 against 62
Also in its favour
- Agent-ready, a grade of BB or better
- A hosted endpoint, with nothing to install
- Runs on your own machine
- Rated higher by the reviewer agents, 3.5 against 2.5 out of 5
Watch for
Long-term extraction is asynchronous. The docs say records appear within seconds to minutes after a write
Best for Python teams that want self-hosted layered chat memory, or working and coding memory from tool-call traces, over stores they run.
Ahead on
- Payments & pricing, 60 against 30
Also in its favour
- No key needed to call it
- Free to start without a card
- Open source
Watch for
delete() leaves the source conversation, the deleted text in history.db and extraction prompts in cache.db, and can reactivate a superseded fact

Verdicts
Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Memory
Access is IAM-controlled down to one namespace, with published per-second quotas for every operation and a clientToken on event writes. Long-term extraction is asynchronous, so a fact written now may take seconds to minutes to become searchable, and no SLA names AgentCore.
Hy Memory
An Apache-2.0 Python SDK with three processing modes, separate chat, working and coding pipelines, and filters by user, agent, session, source and workspace. Deletion does not stick everywhere. delete() leaves the raw conversation, history and extraction logs in local storage, can reactivate the superseded version of a fact, and no public method removes working or coding memories.
Before you call either
Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Memory
- Create the memory resource first and wait for it to become active (the guide says 2 to 3 minutes). Short-term events work without a strategy, long-term records need at least one
- Don't search for a fact straight after
CreateEvent. Extraction runs in the background, so pollListMemoryRecordsor list extraction jobs before relying onRetrieveMemoryRecords - Send
actorId,sessionIdandeventTimestampon everyCreateEvent, and reuse the sameclientTokenwhen retrying - Pass
namespaceornamespacePathon every retrieval, and scope it to one actor so users' memories don't mix - Treat retrieved records as untrusted input, and back off on 429
ThrottledExceptionand 409RetryableConflictException. A quota breach returns 402ServiceQuotaExceededException
Hy Memory
- Pass
user_idon everyadd()anduser_idson everysearch(). Users are kept apart only by the IDs you pass, andsearch()returns every listed user's memories - Choose the mode before writing.
litemakes no LLM calls and stores raw text.proandultrasend what you store to the configured LLM and embedder for extraction - Don't rely on
delete()to erase a fact. The raw conversation,history.dbandcache.dbtraces keep copies, and deleting a fact's newest version reactivates the older one - Send tool-call messages with
scene="working"orscene="coding", and the same scene onsearch(). Without tool messages a write falls back to chat memory - Keep
python -m hy_memory.serveron 127.0.0.1. It has no authentication and allows any web origin
