MealMe API
by MealMe, Inc. HTTP API in Shopping, returns & refunds, also Cooking, recipes & meal planning
MealMe, Inc. · mealme.ai · who's behind it
MealMe is a REST API from MealMe, Inc. that searches restaurants, grocery stores and products across the US and Canada, returns menus and inventory with live quotes, and places pickup or delivery orders with tracking and support chat.
Best for Agents that must place a real restaurant or grocery order in the US or Canada, or compare live prices across stores, and can hold a card on the account.
Viewed under 500 times in the last 30 days · Claim it, free, to see who finds it
Is this your product? Claim it to see how agents find it: lookups through the API, MCP and letme, the comparisons it's in, and what people search for in Shopping. Free, and it never changes the grade. Or verify it, or log in if it's already claimed.
Assessment. An agent can search stores and products, fetch live quotes and place a real order through one REST API priced at $0.10 a successful call. One all-powerful key, no rate limit figures, no status page, no idempotency key on orders and release notes that stop at 6 May 2025 are the limits.

From our research 8 facts checked against the vendor's pages
- Surface listed
- The REST API at api.mealme.ai, read from the readme.io reference (docs.mealme.ai and mealmeapi.readme.io), its llms.txt, the dashboard signup and pricing pages, mealme.ai and its legal page on 3 November 2026. No account was created and no call was made
- Endpoint groups
- Search (store v3, product v4, cart), inventory (v4) and product details (v2), cart create, add, remove, retrieve and list, order create (v4) and finalise, account orders and tracking webhook, payment methods and payment intent, customer support chat, geocoding, Google Places search, store lookup and MealMe Connect accounts
- Coverage claimed
- Over 1 million restaurants, grocery and other stores and over half a billion products in the US and Canada, per the reference descriptions; the home page says 1M+ stores and 1B+ products
- Pricing
- Developer $0.10 per successful call, no minimum, invoiced daily after midnight UTC; Unlimited $250 a month; Enterprise custom with volume discounts, custom merchant onboarding, a security review and contract terms
- Orders and fees
- The final quote itemises subtotal, delivery, service and small-order fees, tax, tip and total in cents. The caller can add its own flat or percentage fee, mark up product prices and choose whether MealMe charges the stored payment method
- Rate limits
- Not published. Each endpoint documents a 429 whose example message reads 10 per 1 second(s)!; no Retry-After or backoff guidance found
- Embedded SDK
- An iframe at https://sdk.mealme.ai/store with query parameters and postMessage events, keyed by an SDK key issued after a meeting and a licence agreement. Not an agent surface
- Legal documents
- MealMe Connect Terms of Service (4 April 2025), Privacy Policy (1 January 2025), API and SDK Terms of Use (18 June 2022) and Cookie Policy (1 January 2020), all at https://www.mealme.ai/privacy, naming MealMe, Inc. under Delaware law
Facts verified 3 November 2026 from vendor docs, repositories and package registries. JSON · Markdown
Strengths
- Search, inventory, cart, order, payment, tracking webhook and support chat in one API, covering restaurants and grocery stores in the US and Canada
- Per-call price published without login, $0.10 a successful call with no monthly minimum, or $250 a month unlimited
- Store search takes a projections list to size responses and pages through next_page; product search accepts UPC codes
- Orders can be quoted first (place_order false returns 202 with the final quote) and placed in a second call
- Seventeen Create Order errors are listed with their status codes, and each endpoint page documents 400, 401 and 429
Weaknesses
- One key with no scopes, read-only mode, expiry or rotation documented, sent in a custom Id-Token header
- No status page, SLA or rate limit figures; the 429 schema shows only an example message
- No idempotency key on Create Order, so a retried call can place a second order
- A card is required before any call, and there is no free tier or trial
- The newest release note is dated 6 May 2025, and the API and SDK terms of 18 June 2022 license use for personal, noncommercial purposes
Before you call it notes for agents
- Send the key as the Id-Token header, not Authorization. Only latitude and longitude are required for store search; address fields become required when fetch_quotes is true and pickup is false
- Call Create Order with place_order false first, read the 202 final quote, then place it; keep your own customer_order_id and look it up before any retry, since no idempotency key exists
- Set projections on store search to the fields you need; fetch_quotes greatly increases response time per the docs
- Keep use_new_db the same across store search, Get Inventory and Get MealMe Store, or the store ids will not match
- Treat 406 (store closed, out of range, no delivery), 420 (product unavailable) and 422 (checkout error) as fixes to make, not transient failures

A reading by a fixed set of rules, each answered with the vendor's own sentence. It isn't legal advice, a rule can miss a clause or misread one, and the document itself is what binds. How it's read and scored.
One page at mealme.ai/privacy holds the MealMe Connect Terms of Service (4 April 2025), the Privacy Policy (1 January 2025), the API and SDK Terms of Use (18 June 2022) and the Cookie Policy (1 January 2020). All name MealMe, Inc.; the Connect terms give a Wilmington, Delaware address and the API terms a Scottdale, Georgia notice address.
The API and SDK terms forbid any robot, spider, scraper or other automatic or manual means to access the services or copy content, and the Connect terms forbid automated data extraction without written permission. Recorded as a fact; public pages were read within robots.txt.
www.mealme.ai/robots.txt allows all crawlers except URLs with ?lightbox=; docs.mealme.ai/robots.txt allows all except /api-next, /edit/, /login and /logout, and points to mealmeapi.readme.io/llms.txt.
The dashboard, signup and pricing pages are served from mealmeai.vercel.app, not mealme.ai.
/.well-known/security.txt on www.mealme.ai returns 400. No status page found; status.mealme.ai does not resolve.
RDAP for mealme.ai (rdap.nic.ai) returned no readable record, so no registration date is recorded.

Researched 3 November 2026 from public pages. No page on mealme.ai, the dashboard site or the docs names a founder or an executive, and the home page links no social accounts (read 3 November 2026). TechCrunch's report of 31 October 2024 names co-founders Matthew Bouchner (president) and Will Said, and the pricing page gives a first-name enterprise contact, but neither is a first-hand page stating a role, so nobody is listed. Investors come from TechCrunch's reports of 24 February 2021 and 31 October 2024, since the company publishes no press or blog page; no company announcement, investor portfolio page or filing was found in six searches. Notable
- The API reference at docs.mealme.ai (served by readme.io as mealmeapi.readme.io) lists about 40 operations across search, inventory, cart, order, payment, customer support chat, location, places and MealMe Connect accounts, each with typed parameters and a response schema source
- Store search is GET https://api.mealme.ai/search/store/v3 with only latitude and longitude required, a projections parameter to pick response fields, page and next_page pagination, and 400, 401 and 429 errors documented source
- Create Order (POST /order/order/v4) answers 202 with a final quote when place_order is false and 200 when the order is placed; a charge_user flag bills the stored payment method and the response carries an is_sandbox flag source
- MealMe Connect links a user's own account on a retailer or marketplace, completes OTP or security-question challenges and places orders through it; the page says retailers often block AI agents and calls the goal OpenCommerce source
- The release notes run from 4 July 2024 to 6 May 2025 and record breaking changes on 4 July, 30 July and 11 October 2024 source
- The API and SDK Terms of Use, last updated 18 June 2022, forbid any robot, spider, scraper or other automatic means to access the services and license use for personal, noncommercial purposes; the Connect terms of 4 April 2025 forbid automated data extraction without written permission source
- mealme.ai/llms.txt describes the Wix site MCP endpoint at https://www.mealme.ai/_api/mcp, a generic site-content server from Wix, not an MCP server for the API source

Graded 38.4 E methodology v0.7
Fix list 19 items, the biggest gain first
Everything this grade says the listing lacks, from the reasons above, the checklist, the provenance checks, the deductions, what we couldn't check and what the review panel asked for, with the steps, ready to paste into a coding agent working on MealMe API. A fix counts at the next check, once it's public.
You're lucky. As part of the beta, your first month is free.
What we couldn't check
- Judgement call on category. The audit put MealMe in cooking; it is listed in shopping because its job is store and product search, carts, quotes and orders across restaurants, grocers and other retailers, with cooking.grocery as a secondary capability. Instacart sits in shopping on the same reasoning.
- firstReleased is 18 June 2022, the date of the API and SDK Terms of Use, the earliest first-hand dated page about the API. TechCrunch says the consumer app launched in 2019 and the company later pivoted to the API; that is a lead, not a source.
- The authentication page says to submit a request for an API key through account setup, while the dashboard has a self-serve signup with a card and then key creation. Which applies to a new account was not tested, as no account was made.
- The API and SDK Terms of Use (18 June 2022) license the services for personal, noncommercial purposes, while the product is sold to businesses by the call. Not deducted; recorded for the vendor to reconcile.
- The API terms forbid any robot, spider, scraper or other automatic means to access the services. Recorded as a fact.
- unchecked: the live 429 behaviour and any Retry-After header, the sandbox, the Enterprise security review, and whether the readme project exposes a downloadable OpenAPI file behind a login.
- MealMe Connect holds users' retailer credentials and completes login challenges on their behalf; the Connect terms let MealMe place orders and charge stored payment methods once an account is linked. Reviewers may weigh that under consent for the person.

Tell us where it is
We read it once now and again every week. If the link is missing two weeks in a row the listing says so, and a later check puts it back.
Agents send the same to POST /api/v1/verify as {"slug": "mealme", "url": "…"}, or call the verify_listing tool at /mcp. Ten checks an hour from one address. What we check. To announce the listing, get sharing assets for social media.
