Learnosity Limited · learnosity.com since 2007 · status page · who's behind it

Learnosity is an assessment platform that education companies embed in their products. Its Data API imports item banks and reads learner sessions, responses and scores, with browser APIs for authoring and delivery and a hosted MCP server for its documentation.

Best for A product team embedding assessment at scale, where an agent imports items, reads sessions and scores, or runs reports under an existing contract.

Claim this listing

Is this your product? Claim it to see how agents find it: lookups through the API, MCP and letme, the comparisons it's in, and what people search for in Learning. Free, and it never changes the grade. Or verify it, or log in if it's already claimed.

Assessment. A commercial assessment platform whose Data API reads and writes item banks, learner sessions and scores through signed requests, with published per-endpoint rate limits, dated LTS versions and a free hosted MCP server for its documentation. Access needs an annual per-user contract with no public price, no public OpenAPI document was found, and the subprocessor list is unreadable to crawlers.

Strengths

  • Data API covers item banks, learner sessions, responses, scores, scoring jobs and reports, with import and export endpoints
  • Rate limits published per endpoint in 5-second windows, a 429 with meta.code 42000 and a stated wait
  • LTS versions every February, June and October with 24 months of support and dated end-of-life and sunset tables
  • Hosted Build Aide MCP server with eight read-only documentation tools, no key, and published rate limits
  • SDKs for Python, Node.js and PHP under Apache-2.0 with CI, the Node SDK released on 2 October 2026

Weaknesses

  • Access needs a commercial agreement; no price, trial or self-serve key is published
  • No public OpenAPI document or llms.txt was found; the reference is help-centre articles behind a Cloudflare challenge for crawlers
  • Every call must be signed with the consumer secret, so an agent needs the SDK or the signing routine, and no read-only key type was found
  • No idempotency keys or Retry-After header documented; writes are limited to 50 per 5 seconds per endpoint
  • The subprocessor list and DPA are disallowed by robots.txt, and the privacy policy gives no retention periods

Before you call it notes for agents

  1. Sign every Data API request with the SDK's Init helper using the consumer key, domain and secret; the secret stays on the server and never goes in a request
  2. Keep writes under 50 per 5 seconds per endpoint and UPDATE /sessions/item to 1 per 5 seconds; on a 429 wait 5 seconds before retrying
  3. Pin production code to the current LTS (v2026.2.LTS) and read the migration guide before moving; developer builds change every two weeks
  4. Use https://mcp.learnosity.com/build/aide for documentation lookups only; it cannot call the Data API, and a -32000 error means a rate limit, so stop looping and wait
  5. Ask the owner for the consumer credentials and which LTS version their consumer is pinned to before building

A reading by a fixed set of rules, each answered with the vendor's own sentence. It isn't legal advice, a rule can miss a clause or misread one, and the document itself is what binds. How it's read and scored.

The website terms of use name Learnosity Limited and cover the website only, with no date. Platform terms sit in customer agreements and were not read. The privacy policy (last updated 26 May 2026) names Learnosity Limited with subsidiaries Learnosity Inc. and Learnosity Pty Ltd and the Questionmark affiliates.

The Build Aide MCP server has its own terms of service, an article dated 30 October 2026, which call it as-available with no uptime or support commitment.

learnosity.com/robots.txt disallows /subprocessors, /dpa, /partnerdpa, /data-protection-protocols/ and the Feedback Aide subprocessor pages, so none was read. help.learnosity.com's HTML answers a Cloudflare challenge; its JSON API (api/v2/help_center) is not disallowed and was used.

RDAP at Verisign gives learnosity.com a registration date of 13 July 2007.

status.learnosity.com is a Statuspage site; its robots.txt disallows /api/ and /embed/, so the history was read from /history.atom.

No security.txt at learnosity.com (404). The security page names security@learnosity.com and authorises good-faith research.

Ownership Acquired by Leeds Equity Partners, 16 January 2025

Researched 3 November 2026 from public pages. Founders and roles from learnosity.com's about page and leadership page, read 3 November 2026, which link each person's LinkedIn profile. The leadership page also lists Aoife Byrne (CFO), Dok Ó Caoimh (CRO), Kirsteen Moss (Chief Operations and People Officer), John Kleeman (EVP Industry Relations, founder of Questionmark, not of Learnosity), Angela O'Leary, Sarah Gaffney and Rachel Murray. No company X or GitHub link appears on the site; the GitHub organisation is the one the demos site links. Ownership from Leeds Equity Partners' own announcement of 16 January 2025, which says Learnosity was previously backed by Battery Ventures; Battery is left out of investors because the whole company was sold. Shown for information, not part of the grade yet. People's accounts link to their own profiles; check them before you rely on one.

Notable

  • The Data API groups its endpoints as itembank (Items, Questions, Feature objects, Activities, Tags, metadata, import and export), sessions (responses, scores, statuses, adjustments, deletion), scoring, jobs, reports, consumers and assets, each with GET, SET and UPDATE actions called through the SDKs source
  • Rate limits are per consumer key, per endpoint, in 5-second windows, for example 1,000 GET /itembank/* and 50 SET /itembank/*, 1,000 GET /sessions/* and 50 SET /sessions, 2,000 GET /scoring and 1 UPDATE /sessions/item; a 429 carries meta.code 42000 and the docs say to wait out the 5-second window source
  • Long Term Support versions ship every February, June and October, get general fixes for 16 months and critical fixes for 24, and are sunset at 30 months; v2026.2.LTS was released on 10 June 2026 and developer builds ship about every two weeks, the latest log dated 28 October 2026 source
  • The Learnosity Build Aide MCP server at https://mcp.learnosity.com/build/aide is a hosted documentation service with eight read-only tools (list_docs_sources, list_docs_categories, search_docs_sources, read_document, skills_list, skills_read, skills_search, get_feedback_link), no authentication, and rate limits of 20 requests per 5 seconds a session, 100 a client and 900 globally, answered with JSON-RPC error -32000; it signs nothing and calls no Learnosity API. Its articles date from 29 September 2026 and its terms from 30 October 2026 source
  • Status page at status.learnosity.com (Statuspage) with six entries since August 2026, including Item Pools degraded in all regions for about 2 hours 20 minutes on 26 October and Enhanced Math scoring delays in US-East-1 on 11 September, 2 October and 20 October source
  • Official SDKs under Apache-2.0 for Python (learnosity_sdk v0.3.13, 14 January 2026, last commit 16 October 2026), Node.js (v0.7.3, 2 October 2026) and PHP (v1.2.1), each with GitHub Actions CI; the demos site at demos.learnosity.com is open source in PHP source
  • ISO 27001 certificate, CSA STAR registry entry, a public HECVAT, EU-US Data Privacy Framework certification and a FedRAMP Moderate authorisation stated by the CTO; security@learnosity.com and a good-faith research authorisation, no security.txt or paid bounty source
  • The help centre's HTML pages answer a Cloudflare challenge; this listing read them through the help centre's public JSON API. learnosity.com's robots.txt disallows /subprocessors and /dpa, so neither was read source

Score breakdown methodology v0.7 · October 2026 research run

Assessed on 3 November 2026 from public evidence, against the published checklist. Confidence medium. Performance and Task success are pending until our probes and task suites run, so the total is over the 7 assessed categories, each weight divided by 80.

Read with the hosted lines on the Data API. Statuspage at status.learnosity.com with component history (20). From 1 August to 3 November 2026 the feed lists six entries, Enhanced Math scoring delays in US-East-1 on 11 September, 2 October and 20 October (the last touching the Data API scoring endpoint for about 4 hours 40 minutes), an LTS remapping issue on 8 October, a demos-site maintenance on 21 to 22 October and Item Pools degraded in all regions for about 2 hours 20 minutes on 26 October, so one incident of an hour or more on a core endpoint and the rest regional or partial (10). Rate limits published per endpoint in 5-second windows (15). A 429 with meta.code 42000 and a stated 5-second wait, but no Retry-After header and no idempotency keys for SET and UPDATE (10 of 15). SLA uptime of 99.8 or 99.9 per cent by support tier on the licences page (10). The APIs are generally available, with LTS versions (10). 20 + 10 + 15 + 10 + 10 + 10 = 75.

No public OpenAPI or similar document was found for the Data API; the reference is help-centre articles, and only the Build Aide MCP server has typed tool inputs, over documentation rather than data (8 of 25). No llms.txt, but the hosted MCP server serves the documentation to agents with source citations (8 of 10). Endpoint articles state what each category is for and when to use the Data API instead of the pre-built APIs (15 of 20). Parameters are typed per endpoint in the articles, read only in part through the JSON API, so partial credit (9 of 15). Troubleshooting articles per HTTP code with the error body, and SDK examples in five languages (12 of 15). Dated LTS versions, release logs per API and developer release logs every two weeks (15). 8 + 8 + 15 + 9 + 12 + 15 = 67.

REST endpoints grouped by category, dataset endpoints for bulk reads, and an MCP server with eight compact tools; field selection on Data API responses was not confirmed (18 of 25). Pagination on list endpoints was not read first-hand, so partial credit (8 of 20). Errors carry meta.status, meta.code and meta.message, with a troubleshooting article per code (14 of 20). No idempotency keys; the MCP tools are read-only and say so (6 of 20). SDKs in Python, Node.js, PHP and more handle signing, with few required fields beyond the signature (15). 18 + 8 + 14 + 6 + 15 = 61.

Access is scoped per consumer and the MCP server is read-only, but no read-only Data API credential or confirmation for session deletion was found (8 of 20). The Data API returns learner responses, which are untrusted text, with no guidance (5 of 15). No per-call audit log for the operator found on public pages (3 of 15). ISO 27001 certificate, CSA STAR, a public HECVAT, EU-US DPF and a FedRAMP Moderate authorisation stated by the CTO, security@learnosity.com and a good-faith research authorisation; no security.txt or paid bounty (16 of 20). 22 + 8 + 5 + 3 + 16 = 54.

  1. Graded 60.2 C methodology v0.7

Fix list 16 items, the biggest gain first

Everything this grade says the listing lacks, from the reasons above, the checklist, the provenance checks, the deductions, what we couldn't check and what the review panel asked for, with the steps, ready to paste into a coding agent working on Learnosity. A fix counts at the next check, once it's public.

What we couldn't check

  • unchecked: the subprocessor list, DPA and data-protection protocols pages, which learnosity.com/robots.txt disallows, and the customer agreement that carries the platform terms and SLA.
  • unchecked: pagination, field selection and the full parameter typing of the Data API endpoints; only the overview, endpoints, sessions, rate-limit and troubleshooting articles were read through the JSON API.
  • unchecked: the Build Aide MCP server's live tools/list and tool annotations; the tool count and read-only claim come from the help-centre articles.
  • firstReleased is left empty. The domain dates from 13 July 2007 and the company's timeline starts with a Sydney office in 2007, but no dated first release of the APIs was found; the oldest LTS announcement in the help centre is 2018.1.LTS.
  • Whether consumer credentials can be rotated or revoked by the customer, and whether an audit log of Data API calls exists in the console.
  • The Build Aide MCP server is not in the official MCP registry (searched 3 November 2026) and is distributed through client marketplaces per its docs.
  • The audit's lead said "official APIs and SDKs, commercial", which holds; it did not mention the hosted MCP server launched in late September 2026.

For the vendor

Is this your product? Link to this page from your own site or README, then tell us where. It shows people and agents that the listing is yours and that you know it's here. It never changes a grade, rank or review.

  1. Add the badge or a link

Learnosity on Anchor Terminal, C, 60.2/100

    [![Learnosity on Anchor Terminal](https://www.anchorterminal.com/badges/learnosity.svg)](https://www.anchorterminal.com/tools/learnosity)

It counts on a page on learnosity.com or one of its subdomains, or the README at the root of github.com/Learnosity/learnosity-sdk-python.

  2. Tell us where it is

We read it once now and again every week. If the link is missing two weeks in a row the listing says so, and a later check puts it back.

Agents send the same to POST /api/v1/verify as {"slug": "learnosity", "url": "…"}, or call the verify_listing tool at /mcp. Ten checks an hour from one address. What we check. To announce the listing, get sharing assets for social media.

For companies

Do agents find, use and choose your tools?

An agent-readiness audit runs our probes, task suite and eight reviewer agents against your public and internal tools, and comes back with a scorecard, the transcripts of what failed, and a fix list in priority order. From $2,500, re-run included. We never take payment to move a rank. We do help companies earn one.
