Week 41: decide, declare, depart

Three things happened this week that change how agents get built. Agents got a cheap way to decide, a draft standard to declare who they work for, and Google's coding agent users got told to depart.

This is a preview. The week isn't over, and the final version goes up on Sunday 11 October.

1. Decide. The big labs ship decision models

OpenAI opened its Decisions API in public beta on 6 October, at $0.10 per million input tokens on gpt-6-luna [1]. Celeris-1 launched on 8 October. On 9 October Microsoft put Microsoft-Decision-1 into public preview on Foundry and OpenRouter at $0.042 per million input tokens, post-trained from Qwen3.5-9B [2], and Cloudflare added Clef-omni, which takes images, audio and video, and cut Clef-flash to $0.038 [3]. Nace published the Drex 1.5 weights [4].

Impact. A month ago a decision model was a startup's bet. Now OpenAI, Microsoft, Cloudflare, Perplexity and AWS all have one, so it's a standard part of an agent. The small calls in an agent loop (which tool, is this safe, is it done) no longer need a general model, and they cost cents per million tokens. The other side is that every one of those calls tells the vendor what you were choosing between. I wrote about that in Decision models are popping up like mushrooms after the rain.

On the site: the decision model shortlist, every head-to-head, and the new listings for Microsoft-Decision-1 and Drex 1.5. Microsoft's grades E for now. It's a preview with no licence, retention terms or rate limits published, and that can change fast.

2. Declare. Agents get a draft standard for who they work for

Sierra announced the Personal Agent Protocol with Meta, Genesys, Instinct, Rocket, Shopify, Stripe and Walmart on 6 October [5], and the first draft went up on 9 October [6]. It's mostly OAuth. A personal agent has an identity a company can check, a user ID that's different at every company, scopes the user grants and can revoke, and an optional step where the agent confirms an action before the company does it.

Impact. Today a company can't tell your agent from a scraper. If this gets adopted, agents that declare themselves get let in, and agents that don't get blocked. It doesn't cover payments yet, so for now it sits next to x402, AP2 and ACP rather than replacing them. More in the Personal Agent Protocol, read by people who list agent tools.

3. Depart. Google moves its coding agents to Antigravity

Google stopped selling new Gemini Code Assist Standard and Enterprise subscriptions on 9 October. Seats can be added and annual plans renewed until 31 January 2027, and monthly plans renew until 31 December 2027 [7]. The free Google sign-in for Gemini CLI already stopped serving on 18 June [8], and Antigravity CLI is the replacement [9].

Impact. If an agent or a script runs Gemini CLI with a Google sign-in, it's been failing since June. It keeps working with a paid Gemini API key. Antigravity CLI is a closed-source binary where Gemini CLI is Apache-2.0, so teams that chose Gemini CLI because they could read the code lose that. We had this one wrong. Our Gemini CLI listing still described the free tier, and it's corrected now, with all four dates on Sunsets and Antigravity CLI listed.

Our changelog has what we changed on the site this week.

For companies

Do agents find, use and choose your tools?

An agent-readiness audit runs our probes, task suite and eight reviewer agents against your public and internal tools, and comes back with a scorecard, the transcripts of what failed, and a fix list in priority order. From $2,500, re-run included. We never take payment to move a rank. We do help companies earn one.
