How to choose

  1. Whether an agent can bookCheck whether a reservation can be made, changed and cancelled through an API, since many booking sites expose availability only in their own app.
  2. Diner side or venue sideCheck whether the API acts for the person booking or for the restaurant or salon, because a venue-side API cannot book a table at someone else's venue.
  3. Deposits and no-show feesCheck whether a card or deposit is needed to hold a booking and what a late cancellation costs, so the agent can tell its user before booking.
  4. Partner access and coverageCheck whether access needs a partner agreement and which cities and venues are covered, since coverage varies widely by country.

How the benchmark tests this category. In this run, public evidence against the published checklist. When the task suites run, one table or appointment searched, booked, changed and cancelled through each listing's API or sandbox. We check availability fields, the booking and deposit steps, change and cancellation rules, and what access took.

Square Appointments (Bookings API)

B 68.1/100

Square Appointments is Block's booking product for service businesses. Its Bookings API searches a seller's availability and creates, updates and cancels appointments, with location, team member and business booking profiles and custom attributes.

Verdict The Bookings API lets an agent working for a Square seller search availability and create, change and cancel appointments, with a public OpenAPI spec, appointment OAuth scopes and idempotency keys. It acts for the venue. Seller-level writes need Plus or Premium, services with a no-show fee can't be booked through it, and it hasn't changed since September 2024.

Best for Venue-side appointment booking for salons, clinics and other service businesses already on Square.

Strengths

  • Availability search, create, update and cancel are separate documented operations, all generally available
  • Five appointment OAuth scopes separate reading, writing and business settings
  • idempotency_key on create, update and cancel, and booking_version for optimistic locking

Weaknesses

  • Seller-level create, update and cancel fail with 403 unless the seller pays for Plus ($49) or Premium ($149) per location
  • Services with a non-zero no-show fee cannot be booked through the API, and the fee can't be set through it
  • No Bookings API change in the changelog since 19 September 2024

#2

TableCheck API

C 57.1/100

TableCheck is a restaurant reservation and guest management platform used mainly in Japan and Asia. Its API components cover availability, booking, CRM, POS and distribution to booking sites, with an MCP server for merchants.

Verdict TableCheck publishes OpenAPI specs for availability, booking, CRM and POS components and a merchant MCP server with read-only keys, idempotent writes and personal data hidden by default. Access is by email application with case-by-case approval and unpublished fees, the MCP server is still under development, and no audit log or dated changelog was found.

Best for Restaurants and groups in Japan and Asia on TableCheck, and booking or concierge platforms wanting their inventory.

Strengths

  • OpenAPI 3.0 YAML served for each component, with a written change and deprecation policy
  • Separate APIs for diner-side platforms (Availability, Distribution, Web Booking) and venue-side systems (Booking, CRM, POS)
  • MCP for Merchants hides guest names, phones and emails unless asked and supports read-only keys

Weaknesses

  • Access needs an emailed application, case-by-case approval and fees quoted privately
  • MCP for Merchants is under development and its tools may change without a version bump
  • REST POST /reservations has no idempotency key

#3

Eat App Partner API

D 53.4/100

Eat App is a restaurant reservation and table management system. Its Partner API lets booking channels check availability and create, change and cancel reservations, a Concierge API serves restaurant groups, and a read-only Restaurant MCP server connects AI assistants.

Verdict A diner-side Partner API with idempotent booking, a stated rate limit, per-API status monitoring and a changelog updated on 13 October 2026, plus a read-only MCP server for restaurants. Partnerships are activated restaurant by restaurant, API access is priced through sales, and the docs are a Postman collection without OpenAPI or llms.txt.

Best for Booking channels and concierge services that want to book into Eat App restaurants, and for restaurants that want an assistant to read their data.

Strengths

  • idempotency_token on Create Reservation returns the first success for a repeated request
  • 60 requests a minute stated, with a documented 429 body
  • Better Stack status page with separate Partner API and Concierge API components and incident history

Weaknesses

  • A booking channel can book only at restaurants whose partnership Eat App has activated
  • API access sits in the Enterprise column of the pricing page, priced through sales
  • No OpenAPI file, llms.txt or SDK, only Postman collections

TheFork B2B API

E 43.6/100

TheFork's B2B API lets restaurants and their software partners, such as CRM vendors and AI phone agents, read availability and create, change and cancel reservations in TheFork Manager, with webhooks, reviews and customer data.

Verdict A venue-side API with a generated OpenAPI 3.1 schema, an llms.txt written for agents and nine OAuth scopes down to read-only availability. It acts for restaurants and their vendors, not diners, needs partner approval, cannot take card guarantees, and has no public status page, changelog or published prices.

Best for CRM, PMS and AI phone-agent vendors and restaurant groups that run on TheFork Manager, mainly in Europe.

Strengths

  • OpenAPI 3.1 schema generated from the deployed code, with 19 operations, enums, examples and error responses
  • llms.txt for the B2B API covers scopes per endpoint, time zones, reservation statuses and error formats
  • Nine OAuth scopes, including read-only availability and a separate scope for unrestricted bookings that is off by default

Weaknesses

  • Venue-side only. Credentials cover the restaurants that granted access, and no endpoint lists restaurants
  • Credentials come from the integrations team by email after approval, with no self-serve route
  • Timeslots that need a payment guarantee cannot be booked through the API

#5

OpenTable APIs

E 38.6/100

OpenTable's partner APIs let approved partners search restaurant availability and make, change and cancel reservations, for diners through the Consumer API or for restaurants' voice agents through the In-House Booking API, with OAuth 2.0 client credentials.

Verdict The public documentation covers diner-side and venue-side booking in detail, with slot locks, policy endpoints, error tables and an X-Request-Id header for safe retries. Access needs partner approval and a contract, rate limits and prices are not published, and the status page and main website could not be read.

Best for Approved affiliates, restaurant groups and voice AI vendors that need to book into OpenTable restaurants.

Strengths

  • Diner-side Consumer API v2 and venue-side In-House Booking API both cover availability, slot lock, booking, change and cancellation
  • Booking and cancellation policy endpoints return deposits, holds and cut-off rules before a booking is made
  • X-Request-Id on POST, PUT and PATCH requests makes retries safe

Weaknesses

  • Access needs an application, review by the partnerships team and an agreement, with no self-serve credentials
  • Rate limits are not published and come from the OpenTable representative
  • No OpenAPI file, llms.txt or SDK, only a Postman collection

#6

SevenRooms

F 17.7/100

SevenRooms is a reservation, table management, guest CRM and marketing platform for restaurants, hotels and other hospitality venues, owned by DoorDash. It runs venues' booking widgets and connects to 100+ booking, POS and voice AI partners.

Verdict SevenRooms runs reservations, table management and guest CRM for hospitality venues, with a Statuspage history that includes its API and a trust centre listing SOC 2 and PCI DSS. There is no public API or MCP server an outside agent can call today. The API serves venues and approved partners, and even its documentation needs a provisioned account.

Best for Hospitality venues and groups that want reservations, CRM and marketing in one system.

Strengths

  • Statuspage history with a separate API component
  • Trust centre lists SOC 2, PCI DSS, subprocessors and a responsible disclosure section
  • Terms and privacy policy carry 2026 update dates and name the legal entity

Weaknesses

  • No public API or MCP server an outside agent can call. The API reference needs an individually provisioned account
  • Venue-side only. Guests have no accounts, so nothing acts for a diner
  • No published prices, free tier or self-serve trial

#7

Chope

F 13.3/100

Chope is a restaurant reservation website and app for diners in Singapore, Bangkok, Phuket, Jakarta and Bali, owned by Grab. Diners search restaurants, book tables and pay deposits where a restaurant asks for one.

Verdict Chope is a diner-facing restaurant booking site and app in Singapore, Bangkok, Phuket, Jakarta and Bali, owned by Grab, with free bookings and app releases in September 2026. No public API or MCP server lets an outside agent search or book, and restaurant integrations run through partners such as TableCheck and SevenRooms by arrangement.

Best for A person booking restaurants in Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.

Strengths

  • Free for diners, with deposits set by each restaurant and explained in the diner FAQ
  • iOS releases on 15 and 30 September 2026
  • Dated notices for product changes, such as the end of Chope-Dollars from 15 October 2026

Weaknesses

  • No public API or MCP server that an outside agent can call
  • The Terms & Conditions forbid spidering, scraping or mirroring without written permission
  • No status page, security.txt or named processors, apart from Grab

Tock

F 12.4/100

Tock is a reservation and experience booking platform for restaurants, wineries and other venues, owned by American Express and now part of the Resy network. Venues run it through the Tock Dashboard, and diners book on exploretock.com and Resy.

Verdict Tock takes reservations and experience bookings for restaurants and wineries and now feeds its venues into Resy. There is no public API or MCP server an outside agent can call today. api.exploretock.com publishes reservation data models without endpoints, and the Terms of Use forbid automated access to the site.

Best for Restaurants and wineries taking reservations and experience bookings, and for diners booking in person.

Strengths

  • Reservation data model published with a Swagger 2.0 file of 33 definitions
  • Terms of Use (February 2026) and privacy policy (November 2025) are dated and name Tock LLC
  • Venues also reach diners through the Resy app since 11 August 2026

Weaknesses

  • No public API or MCP server an outside agent can call. The docs index reads "Docs coming soon"
  • The Terms of Use forbid robots, scripts and automated systems on the site
  • No prices could be read, and the home page answered 403 to our reader

Resy

F 10.3/100

Resy is American Express's restaurant reservation app and website for diners, with Resy OS for venues. Since 11 August 2026 it also lists Tock's restaurants, wineries and experiences, over 25,000 venues in all.

Verdict Resy is a large diner reservation network, now including Tock's venues, with American Express behind it. There is no public API or MCP server an outside agent can call today. An Amex-hosted MCP endpoint exists but accepts only pre-registered clients and has no public documentation, and Resy's own terms and privacy pages could not be read.

Best for Diners booking in person through the app.

Strengths

  • Over 25,000 venues after Tock's restaurants, wineries and experiences joined on 11 August 2026
  • Deposits, prepayment, card holds and verified bookings are available to venues, per the platform security page
  • A dated product change in the last 90 days
