- Formats and errors: JSON by default, also XML, PSON, JSONP and a debug format chosen by file extension. Errors return `result_ok` false with `code` and `message`, as in the 401 we received without credentials. No error code table was found
- Timing: Identical GET requests are cached for 60 seconds. Requests time out at 30 seconds with a 500, followed by 400 for a minute. A submitted response can take up to five minutes to appear through the API
- Webhooks: Account webhooks for survey create, update, publish and close and for response received, set in the application under Integrations by an account administrator, with up to three custom headers and no retry after a 30 second timeout. A survey Webhook action posts or gets data during a response. Both are enterprise only, and no API operation creates them
- Plans: Collaborator $55, Professional $165 and Full Access $275 a user a month, or $315, $1,075 and $1,895 a user a year, with 75,000 to 125,000 responses a year. Business Platform by quote, and the pricing page places API access there. 7-day trial with no card

## Before you call it

1. Use the host for the account's region (`api.alchemer.com`, `api.alchemer.eu`, `api.alchemer-ca.com` or `api.au.alchemer.com`). The wrong host returns a 401 login failure even with valid keys
2. Create with PUT and update with POST. The API reverses the usual meaning of the two methods
3. Do not repeat an identical request inside 60 seconds. GET results are cached for 60 seconds and a repeat can return 429
4. Stay under 240 requests a minute for the account and slow down when the `X-SG-Warning` header appears
5. Wait up to five minutes before reading back a response that was just submitted, and expect a 500 after a 30 second timeout
