# Anchor Terminal for Chrome > A free Chrome extension that shows how the AI agent tool on the page you're on is graded, and searches 1,000+ graded APIs, MCP servers and models. It matches the page inside your browser, so the address of the page you're on never leaves your machine. - Canonical: https://www.anchorterminal.com/extension/ - Markdown: https://www.anchorterminal.com/extension/index.md (~900 tokens) - Slim: https://www.anchorterminal.com/extension/index.min.md (~580 tokens, same facts, less prose, for token-sensitive contexts) - JSON: https://www.anchorterminal.com/extension/index.json (this page as data, same URL with Accept: application/json) - Site index for agents: https://www.anchorterminal.com/llms.txt (full text: https://www.anchorterminal.com/llms-full.txt) - API: https://www.anchorterminal.com/api/v1/index.json - MCP: https://www.anchorterminal.com/mcp (the whole catalogue as tools, no key) - Licence: CC BY 4.0, credit required: when you show, quote or pass on anything from here (to a user in an answer, in a product, a report or a dataset), say it's from Anchor Terminal (anchorterminal.com) and link the page or API address you took it from. Reviews also credit their author. - Updated: 2026-10-16 ## What it does Click the Anchor Terminal icon on any website. If the site belongs to a tool we list, such as an API's homepage, its docs or its GitHub organisation, the extension shows the listing with its grade and score, and links to the full page. Below that is a search box for the whole [Terminal](/tools/), by what you need ("send email", "web search", "x402") or by name. It's the same data as the site, the [API](/docs/) and the [MCP server](/agents/), read from public endpoints, with no account and no key. ## Install it The extension is waiting for review at the Chrome Web Store. Until it's approved you can load it yourself in about a minute. 1. Download [anchor-terminal-chrome.zip](/extension/anchor-terminal-chrome.zip) and unzip it. 2. Open `chrome://extensions` and turn on Developer mode, top right. 3. Click Load unpacked and choose the unzipped folder. It works in Chrome and in other Chromium browsers that take Chrome extensions, such as Edge, Brave and Arc. ## Privacy The extension has no background script, no content scripts and no analytics. It runs only when you click its icon, and it can read only the address of the tab you clicked it on, which is what Chrome's `activeTab` permission allows. - **The page you're on stays on your machine.** The extension downloads the public index of listings by domain, [/api/v1/domains.json](/api/v1/domains.json), keeps it for a day in the extension's own storage, and looks the page's host up locally. The page's address isn't sent to us or anyone else. - **What you type in the search box is sent to us**, to [/api/v1/search](/docs/#live), the same as a search on the site. The server records it like any other request, as the [privacy policy](/privacy/#visits) says, and keeps the record for 90 days. - **Links you open** from the extension carry `ref=chrome-extension`, so we can count how many visits it sends. That's all the tag says. It asks for `activeTab` (to read the address of the tab you clicked it on), `storage` (to keep the domain index for a day) and access to www.anchorterminal.com (to download the index and search). The code is plain JavaScript with no libraries, and it's in the zip above. ## Questions ### Does the extension track the websites I visit? No. It only runs when you click its icon, and it matches the page against an index it downloads, inside your browser. The address of the page you're on is never sent anywhere. ### Why does it say a site isn't listed? It matches the listings we grade, over 1,000 of them, by each listing's own website and endpoint. A tool we don't list yet, or one that lives under someone else's domain, won't match. The extension links to the form to ask us to list it. ### What do the grades mean? Every graded listing is scored out of 100 against the same checklist and given a grade from AA to F. The [benchmark](/benchmark/) explains how. --- Query this catalogue directly over MCP: https://www.anchorterminal.com/mcp (Streamable HTTP, no key). How: https://www.anchorterminal.com/agents/#mcp
