Ahead on: - Schema & documentation, 87 against 80 - Agent ergonomics, 72 against 65 - Security & auth, 74 against 66 - Transparency & trust, 81 against 72 Also in its favour: - A hosted endpoint, with nothing to install Watch for: The MCP server documents 34 tools (27 data, 3 Designer session, 4 utility), each with several actions, and a granted tool grants all its actions ## Score by category | Category | Weight | Strapi | Webflow | Edge | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Reliability | 16% (20 this run) | 82 | 79 | Strapi +3 | | Performance | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Schema & documentation | 13% (16.2 this run) | 80 | 87 | Webflow +7 | | Agent ergonomics | 13% (16.2 this run) | 65 | 72 | Webflow +7 | | Security & auth | 14% (17.5 this run) | 66 | 74 | Webflow +8 | | Payments & pricing | 10% (12.5 this run) | 50 | 30 | Strapi +20 | | Task success | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Maintenance & community | 7% (8.8 this run) | 87 | 80 | Strapi +7 | | Transparency & trust | 7% (8.8 this run) | 72 | 81 | Webflow +9 | | Negative events | ≤15 | -6 | -3 | | | **Total** | | **65.7 · B** | **69.4 · B** | | ## Facts side by side | Fact | Strapi | Webflow | | --- | --- | --- | | Kind | HTTP API | HTTP API | | Vendor | Strapi, Inc. | Webflow, Inc. | | Hosted endpoint | no (local only) | `https://api.webflow.com/v2` | | Transports | HTTP, Streamable HTTP | HTTP, Streamable HTTP | | Auth | API key | OAuth or key | | Pricing | Freemium | Freemium | | x402 | no | no | | Licence | MIT for the Community Edition. Rollback is the limit. Content History is a paid feature and records admin panel edits only, so API and MCP writes leave no version to restore, and the MCP server can't upload files. **Webflow.** The Data API has a public OpenAPI 3.1 spec with 140 operations, scoped OAuth and site tokens, and CMS items that stay drafts until a separate publish call. The MCP server loads 34 multi-action tools and can't create new localised CMS items. The free plan holds 50 CMS items, and the activity log needs the $2,500 Team plan. ## Before you call either ### Strapi 1. Pass `status=draft` on every REST POST and PUT. Without it the Content API publishes the entry at once 2. Use an Admin token for `/mcp` and admin routes and an API token for `/api`. Each kind is rejected on the other's routes 3. Upload files with multipart POST to `/api/upload` first, then reference the returned file id in the entry. MCP tools can't upload 4. Call `media_delete_assets` and `media_delete_folder` without `dryRun` first to preview, and take asset ids only from `media_list_assets` 5. Keep your own copy of an entry before updating it. API and MCP writes create no Content History version ### Webflow 1. Send the token as `Authorization: Bearer` to https://api.webflow.com/v2. Ask for `cms:read` and `cms:write` only, plus `sites:write` if the task publishes 2. Create or update items first, then call Publish Items or Publish Site. An item with `isDraft` true and a `lastPublished` date is live with unpublished changes 3. Stay under 60 requests a minute on Starter and Basic and 120 on Premium, read X-RateLimit-Remaining, and wait for Retry-After on 429 4. Page item lists with `limit` (maximum 100) and `offset`, and filter with `filter[][]`, up to 10 terms 5. Upload an asset in two steps (create the asset with a file hash, then POST the bytes to the presigned URL). Write localised content with the item's `cmsLocaleId` ## Questions ### Which is better for AI agents, Strapi or Webflow?
