Model-written Python and shell commands run with the user's rights, with no approval step and no sandbox, and the Rust build on the main branch ships only as nightly betas.\n\n**Qoder CLI.** A closed-source terminal agent with a documented headless mode, an ACP server, typed TypeScript and Python SDKs and near-daily releases. Permission rules and modes are detailed, but no local sandbox is documented, usage statistics are on by default, and security fixes appear only as one-line release notes with no advisories or disclosure policy.\n\n## Before you call either\n\n### Prime Agent\n\n1. Run it in a disposable clone, container or VM. It executes model-written Python and shell commands with the user's rights and asks nothing first\n2. Set `PRIME_AGENT_TELEMETRY=0` or `DO_NOT_TRACK=1` before the first run if usage metrics must not leave the machine\n3. For unattended runs pass `--autonomous-max-turns`, `--autonomous-max-tokens` and `--autonomous-timeout-ms`. Reaching a limit does not mean the task succeeded\n4. Headless use is `-p` with `--mode json` per the argument parser. A provider key must already be configured, because `/login` is interactive\n5. The `-t/--tools`, `-nt/--no-tools` and `-nbt/--no-builtin-tools` flags were removed and now fail as unknown options\n\n### Qoder CLI\n\n1. Set `QODER_PERSONAL_ACCESS_TOKEN` in CI. The browser sign-in can't complete in a headless run\n2. Pass `--permission-mode` with `--allowed-tools` in headless runs. Every ask is denied, and `--yolo` removes all checks\n3. Set `--max-turns` on unattended runs, and branch on exit codes 41 (authentication) and 53 (turn limit)\n4. Set `privacy.usageStatisticsEnabled` and `aiCodeStatistics.enabled` to false in ~/.qoder/settings.json if usage data must stay local\n5. Don't pass `--model lite`. The Lite tier was removed on 18 September 2026 and headless requests naming it fail\n\n## Questions\n\n### Which is better for AI agents, Prime Agent or Qoder CLI?\n\nPrime Agent scores 60.5 (C) on agent readiness against Qoder CLI's 59.3 (C), and leads in 3 of 7 scored categories. Qoder CLI leads on schema \u0026 documentation, agent ergonomics and security \u0026 auth.\n\n### Are Prime Agent and Qoder CLI open source?\n\nPrime Agent is open source (MIT).
