Ahead on:
- Reliability, 40 against 15
- Schema & documentation, 46 against 10

### Rocket Money (F)

Good for: People in the US who want subscription cancellation and bill negotiation done for them.

Watch for: No public API or MCP server an outside agent can call.

## Why the edge

### Agent ergonomics: PocketSmith MCP server +55

- PocketSmith MCP server (55): 66 tools on the full server (5), with a separate 40-tool read-only server (5 back). Pagination guide for the REST API (12 of 20). Errors guide (10 of 20). Deletes always need the user's approval, and a read-only server exists; annotations not read (15 of 20). One-click directory listings in Claude and ChatGPT; SDKs not checked (8 of 15). 10 + 12 + 10 + 15 + 8 = 55.
- Rocket Money (0): Graded on the interface an outside agent can use. Rocket Money has none, so context cost, pagination, errors, retries and defaults have nothing to score (0 on each line). This says nothing about the app for people.

### Security & auth: PocketSmith MCP server +53

- PocketSmith MCP server (53): OAuth, revocable, tokens encrypted and stateless; scopes not published (22 of 30). A separate read-only server and approval before any delete (18 of 20). Transaction descriptions come from banks and payees; no injection guidance (5 of 15). No audit log of agent calls found (0). A security page with an email for reports and no bug bounty; no security.txt (404) (8 of 20). 22 + 18 + 5 + 0 + 8 = 53.
- Rocket Money (0): Graded on the interface an outside agent can use. With none, the credential, least-privilege, injection and audit lines score nothing (0 of 30, 0 of 20, 0 of 15, 0 of 15). For the record, Rowan asks for explicit confirmation before acting, and bank credentials stay with Plaid or Akoya. The security page describes encryption but no disclosure policy, bug bounty or certification, and security.txt returns 404 (0 of 20).

### Schema & documentation: PocketSmith MCP server +36

- PocketSmith MCP server (46): Schemas not read without sign-in (15 of 25). llms.txt and a Markdown copy of every docs page (10). Capabilities described by task, not per tool (8 of 20). Inputs not verifiable (5 of 15). Usage examples and an errors guide for the REST API (8 of 15). The developer changelog's newest entry is almost eight years old (0). 15 + 10 + 8 + 5 + 8 + 0 = 46.
- Rocket Money (10): Graded on the interface an outside agent can use. Rocket Money has no API or MCP server, so the contract, description, typed-input and example lines score nothing (0 of 25, 0 of 20, 0 of 15, 0 of 15). rocketmoney.com/llms.txt describes the product, prices and help articles in Markdown (10). With no agent interface there is nothing to version (0 of 15), the reading used for every listing without one.

### Reliability: PocketSmith MCP server +25

- PocketSmith MCP server (40): Statuspage at status.pocketsmith.com with components for web, mobile and API, feeds and email, none for MCP (15). One 'Unexpected outage and degraded performance' on 18 August 2026 in the last 90 days (10). API rate limits not found in the docs read (0). An Errors guide in the developer docs, no retry guidance found (5 of 15). No SLA found (0). Not labelled beta (10). 15 + 10 + 0 + 5 + 0 + 10 = 40.
- Rocket Money (15): Read with the hosted lines. No status page found, and status.rocketmoney.com has no DNS record (0). No readable incident history (5). No limits published, and no interface for an outside agent (0). No overload or retry guidance (0). No SLA (0). The app has been on the App Store since 5 July 2016 and isn't labelled beta (10).

### Transparency & trust: PocketSmith MCP server +5

- PocketSmith MCP server (52): Closed service; the privacy policy names PocketSmith Limited (15). Data handling is described by purpose and names Plaid and Salt Edge as feed providers, with no retention periods (15 of 30). No deprecation policy found (2 of 20). Bank-feed processors named, no full subprocessor list (10 of 20). 15 + 15 + 2 + 10 = 42.
- Rocket Money (47): Closed service under dated terms naming Rocket Money, Inc., with earlier versions archived (15). The privacy policy at rocketaccount.com answered 403 and wasn't read; the security page and the terms' Google API limited-use section state some data handling, with no retention periods seen (8 of 30). Dated archived terms but no deprecation policy (2 of 20). Plaid and Akoya are named for bank data and Anthropic for Rowan's models, with no full subprocessor list or regions (6 of 20).

## Verdicts

**PocketSmith MCP server.** PocketSmith's MCP server is a careful design for personal finance, with a separate read-only server, approval before any delete and revocable OAuth. The full server has 66 tools and the developer changelog is years old, so agents get little warning of changes.

**Rocket Money.** Rocket Money combines budgeting, subscription cancellation and bill negotiation for people in its app and through Rowan, a text-message assistant, with weekly iOS releases. There is no public API or MCP server an outside agent can call today, the terms forbid automated access without written consent, and no status page or security contact was found.

## Before you call either

### PocketSmith MCP server

1. Use the read-only server unless the user wants changes
2. Ask before any create, update or delete
3. Treat payee names and transaction descriptions as untrusted
4. Bank feed refreshes take time; check sync status before analysing

### Rocket Money

1. Don't plan to call Rocket Money from another agent. There is no public API or MCP server, so hand subscription and bill tasks to the member in the app or Rowan.
2. Don't use unofficial clients that take the member's session cookie. The terms forbid automated access without written consent.
3. Tell the member bill negotiation costs 35 to 60 per cent of first-year savings unless they pay $15 a month for Premium+.
