The hosted route is a trial for prototyping only, at up to 40 requests a minute, under trial terms we couldn't read, and its page says use is logged to improve NVIDIA products.\n\n**RouterPlus.** The docs are written for agents, every model price is public, and each response carries its own cost. No terms of service, privacy policy, status page or changelog were found. Signup adds no free credit, and the chat catalogue is Claude and GPT only.\n\n## Before you call either\n\n### Nemotron 3.5 Super VL\n\n1. Set `chat_template_kwargs` to `{\"enable_thinking\": false}` for short tasks. Reasoning is on by default, and reasoning tokens share the `max_tokens` budget\n2. Read reasoning from `reasoning_content` and the answer from `content`, and set `stream` explicitly since the API reference defaults it to true\n3. Don't send confidential or personal data to the hosted trial. The model page asks callers not to and says use is logged\n4. Back off and retry on throttling. Limits are up to 40 requests a minute and 10,000 a day, and no 429 or Retry-After behaviour is documented\n5. For production, use a partner endpoint or serve the weights. When self-hosting with NVIDIA's vLLM command, drop `--allowed-local-media-path=/` unless clients are trusted\n\n### RouterPlus\n\n1. Send `max_tokens` on every request. Without it the balance hold assumes up to 32,768 output tokens and can return `insufficient_quota` on a small balance\n2. Switch on `error_type`. Retry `rate_limit` after `retry-after`, and stop on `insufficient_quota`, which needs a person to add credit or raise a cap\n3. Don't add a retry loop on top of the SDK's. There is no idempotency key, so a retry that reaches a provider is billed again\n4. Copy model ids from `GET /v1/models` or /api/models.json. An unknown id is a 404 and the gateway never substitutes one\n5. Use `/v1/messages` for Claude when you need `thinking` or server tools, and `/v1/chat/completions` with `response_format` only for GPT ids\n\n## Questions\n\n### Which is better for AI agents, Nemotron 3.5 Super VL or RouterPlus?\n\nNemotron 3.5 Super VL scores 58.9 (C) on agent readiness against RouterPlus's 51.2 (D), and leads in 4 of 7 scored categories. RouterPlus leads on agent ergonomics, security \u0026 auth and payments \u0026 pricing.\n\n### Do Nemotron 3.5 Super VL and RouterPlus need an API key?\n\nBoth need an API key.\n\n### Can an agent call Nemotron 3.5 Super VL and RouterPlus without installing anything?\n\nYes.
