Ahead on: - Reliability, 63 against 32 - Maintenance & community, 58 against 26 Also in its favour: - A hosted endpoint, with nothing to install Watch for: No terms of service, privacy policy, DPA or subprocessor list found on morph.so or cloud.morph.so ### SPACE (C) Good for: Teams that want E2B-style microVM sandboxes on their own Linux and Kubernetes hosts, with egress and credential control outside the guest. Ahead on: - Agent ergonomics, 66 against 61 - Security & auth, 64 against 39 - Payments & pricing, 60 against 20 - Transparency & trust, 68 against 25 Also in its favour: - Free to start without a card - Open source Watch for: A person must deploy it first, on an apt-based Linux x86_64 host with KVM, privileged Docker and Kubernetes (Kind in the guide) ## Score by category | Category | Weight | Morph Cloud | SPACE | Edge | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Reliability | 16% (20 this run) | 63 | 32 | Morph Cloud +31 | | Performance | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Schema & documentation | 13% (16.2 this run) | 72 | 75 | SPACE +3 | | Agent ergonomics | 13% (16.2 this run) | 61 | 66 | SPACE +5 | | Security & auth | 14% (17.5 this run) | 39 | 64 | SPACE +25 | | Payments & pricing | 10% (12.5 this run) | 20 | 60 | SPACE +40 | | Task success | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Maintenance & community | 7% (8.8 this run) | 58 | 26 | Morph Cloud +32 | | Transparency & trust | 7% (8.8 this run) | 25 | 68 | SPACE +43 | | Negative events | ≤15 | 0 | 0 | | | **Total** | | **50.8 · D** | **56.2 · C** | | ## Facts side by side | Fact | Morph Cloud | SPACE | | --- | --- | --- | | Kind | HTTP API | HTTP API | | Vendor | Morph Labs | Perplexity | | Hosted endpoint | `https://cloud.morph.so/api` | no (local only) | | Transports | HTTP | HTTP | | Auth | API key | OAuth or key | | Pricing | Pay per use | Free | | x402 | no | no | | Licence | Proprietary hosted service with no published terms found. A public OpenAPI file covers 69 operations. No terms of service, privacy policy or security page was found, the free plan includes no compute credit, and the changelog holds one entry from November 2024. **SPACE.** Once deployed, SPACE's native API has a public OpenAPI 3.1 contract, stable error codes with a retryable flag and 24-hour idempotency keys, and egress and credential controls sit outside the VM. A person must first deploy it on a Linux x86_64 host with KVM and Kubernetes. Version 0.8.0 has no tagged release, changelog or public container images. ## Before you call either ### Morph Cloud 1. Set `ttl_seconds` and `ttl_action` when starting an instance. Nothing in the docs stops an instance with no TTL from billing MCUs 2. Pass `auth_mode: api_key` when exposing an HTTP service. The default is `none`, which makes the URL public 3. Enable `wake_on_ssh` before calling exec on an instance that may be paused. There is no separate exec wake setting 4. Use `/api/instance/list` and `/api/snapshot/list` with `page` and `limit` (default 50, maximum 1,000). The plain list routes return everything 5. On a 503 from snapshot, branch, pause or reboot, wait for the `Retry-After` value before repeating the call ### SPACE 1. Ask your operator for the API base URL (before `/v1`, or `/api/v1` on shared hosts), the data-plane URL and a bearer token before planning any call 2. Poll the returned operation until it succeeds and the sandbox is `running` before creating a command. A 202 response is not readiness 3. Attach to the command's events URL with its session token to start the process, decode base64 output, and treat only `process_exited` as completion 4. Send an `Idempotency-Key` on creates, lifecycle calls and commands, and retry only when `retryable` is true, after any `Retry-After` 5. Save output as it arrives. Reconnecting with `Last-Event-ID` returns `resync_required`, not the missed output ## Questions ### Which is better for AI agents, Morph Cloud or SPACE?
