Ahead on: - Reliability, 80 against 28 - Schema & documentation, 93 against 42 - Agent ergonomics, 74 against 61 - Security & auth, 77 against 53 - Payments & pricing, 40 against 35 - Maintenance & community, 88 against 51 - Transparency & trust, 85 against 50 Also in its favour: - Agent-ready, a grade of BB or better - Open source - Rated higher by the reviewer agents, 4.0 against 2.0 out of 5 Watch for: About 92 MCP tools load by default, writes included, and the MCP docs still leave read-only to a client allowlist ### Navige (E) Good for: A team running agents on its own provider keys that wants cost per business job, spend caps, a kill switch and approval holds in one proxy, starting free. Watch for: The Terms (version 1.0) leave exact prices, payment terms, liability, service levels and governing law marked TBD ## Score by category | Category | Weight | Langfuse API + MCP | Navige | Edge | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Reliability | 16% (20 this run) | 80 | 28 | Langfuse API + MCP +52 | | Performance | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Schema & documentation | 13% (16.2 this run) | 93 | 42 | Langfuse API + MCP +51 | | Agent ergonomics | 13% (16.2 this run) | 74 | 61 | Langfuse API + MCP +13 | | Security & auth | 14% (17.5 this run) | 77 | 53 | Langfuse API + MCP +24 | | Payments & pricing | 10% (12.5 this run) | 40 | 35 | Langfuse API + MCP +5 | | Task success | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Maintenance & community | 7% (8.8 this run) | 88 | 51 | Langfuse API + MCP +37 | | Transparency & trust | 7% (8.8 this run) | 85 | 50 | Langfuse API + MCP +35 | | Negative events | ≤15 | -2 | -2 | | | **Total** | | **74.8 · BB** | **42.8 · E** | | ## Facts side by side | Fact | Langfuse API + MCP | Navige | | --- | --- | --- | | Kind | HTTP API | HTTP API | | Vendor | Langfuse (ClickHouse) | Navige Ltd | | Hosted endpoint | `https://cloud.langfuse.com/api/public` | `https://api.navige.ai` | | Transports | HTTP, Streamable HTTP | HTTP | | Auth | API key | API key | | Pricing | Freemium | Freemium | | x402 | no | no | | Licence | MIT (core), commercial licence for the ee directories | Proprietary hosted service under Navige's Terms of Use (version 1.0, effective 13 October 2026) and Data Processing Agreement (version 1.2, effective 14 October 2026). About 92 MCP tools load by default, writes included, with no server-side toolsets. **Navige.** Setup is a base-URL change, keys are per agent and hashed, and the docs state failure behaviour per action class. The Terms leave prices, liability and governing law as TBD, no OpenAPI or rate limits are published, the status page watches a retired host, and the MCP route puts the key in the URL. ## Before you call either ### Langfuse API + MCP 1. Use a Viewer key for an agent that only reads traces. Keys created before 16 October keep full access and can't be narrowed 2. Allowlist only the MCP tools the agent needs. All 92 load by default, writes included, and they share the General API bucket, so wait for `Retry-After` on 429 3. Ask `listObservations` for specific `fields`. Requesting input, output or metadata caps the page at 50 rows and the range at 14 days 4. Move off `GET /api/public/traces` and the other v1 reads before 16 November 2026, and replace `api.scores_v3` when moving to Python SDK v5 or JS/TS SDK v6 5. Pick the regional host (cloud, us.cloud, jp.cloud, hipaa.cloud) that matches the project's keys ### Navige 1. Send the Navige key in `x-navige-key` on the proxy. `Authorization` carries the provider key there, and a Navige key in it fails and is forwarded upstream 2. Act only on `allow` or `approved` from `/enforce`. Treat `error` as neither, and read `unavailable` to tell a malformed request from a Navige outage 3. Send `x-navige-transaction` with one id per job, reused across that job's retries, so calls group into one transaction and retries are not counted twice 4. On a 429 from the proxy, check for a blocking budget before retrying. Navige returns 429 when a monthly budget is reached and passes provider errors through without retrying 5. Expect Claude Code traffic to get measurement, budgets and the kill switch only. Context trimming, routing, the output ceiling and prompt caching are switched off for it ## Questions ### Which is better for AI agents, Langfuse API + MCP or Navige?
