Ahead on: - Reliability, 77 against 40 - Schema & documentation, 81 against 29 - Agent ergonomics, 82 against 42 - Security & auth, 77 against 43 - Payments & pricing, 60 against 30 - Maintenance & community, 86 against 56 - Transparency & trust, 63 against 48 Also in its favour: - Agent-ready, a grade of BB or better - No key needed to call it - Free to start without a card - Open source - Rated higher by the reviewer agents, 2.5 against 2.0 out of 5 Watch for: Autonomous mode, which approves every tool call, is the default ### Parallax (F) Good for: A developer on a Mac who runs several coding agents across Claude and Codex subscriptions and wants cross-lab review of finished sessions on GitHub. Watch for: No API, MCP server or CLI reference for the app itself. Captain, subscription fallback and fast merge are described only on the product page ## Score by category | Category | Weight | goose | Parallax | Edge | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Reliability | 16% (20 this run) | 77 | 40 | goose +37 | | Performance | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Schema & documentation | 13% (16.2 this run) | 81 | 29 | goose +52 | | Agent ergonomics | 13% (16.2 this run) | 82 | 42 | goose +40 | | Security & auth | 14% (17.5 this run) | 77 | 43 | goose +34 | | Payments & pricing | 10% (12.5 this run) | 60 | 30 | goose +30 | | Task success | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Maintenance & community | 7% (8.8 this run) | 86 | 56 | goose +30 | | Transparency & trust | 7% (8.8 this run) | 63 | 48 | goose +15 | | Negative events | ≤15 | -2 | -2 | | | **Total** | | **73.9 · BB** | **37.9 · F** | | ## Facts side by side | Fact | goose | Parallax | | --- | --- | --- | | Kind | Agent harness | Agent harness | | Vendor | Agentic AI Foundation (originally Block) | Conifer Solutions, Inc. | | Hosted endpoint | no (local only) | no (local only) | | Transports | | HTTP | | Auth | None | OAuth or key | | Pricing | Free | Freemium | | x402 | no | no | | Licence | Apache-2.0 | Proprietary, under Conifer's Terms of Service (Conifer Solutions, Inc.). Autonomous mode, which approves every tool call, is the default. **Parallax.** Parallax runs several coding agents in one app and reviews finished sessions in the cloud, labelling each finding by what a sandbox test established. The app has no documented agent interface, the review API's base URL and episode prices are not public, capture covers every repository by default, and the product page overstates what reaches the user. ## Before you call either ### goose 1. Set `GOOSE_MODE=smart_approve` or `approve` before a run. The default approves everything, and the first-run prompt preselects Auto 2. Pass `--max-turns` with a real limit. The default is 1000 3. Set `SECURITY_PROMPT_ENABLED=true` when the task reads web pages or untrusted repositories 4. Use `--output-format json` and `--no-session` in CI, and check the exit code 5. Point remotes and links at aaif-goose/goose and goose-docs.ai. The block/goose paths redirect ### Parallax 1. Don't plan to drive the Parallax app. It has no documented agent interface. Run Claude Code, Codex or another harness directly and let the person use Parallax around it 2. Ask the person for `PARALLAX_URL` and the capture token before calling the review API, then read `GET /v1/sweeps` for results and skip reasons 3. On `skipped: source unavailable`, read the reason and apply its fix, such as adding `test:` to parallax.yml or starting the session inside the repository 4. Ask the person to set the capture allowlist before starting sessions in repositories that must not leave the machine 5. Treat a lesson in the session-start brief as a hint to check against the code, not as an instruction that overrides the person ## Questions ### Which is better for AI agents, goose or Parallax? goose scores 73.9 (BB) on agent readiness against Parallax's 37.9 (F), and leads in every scored category. ### Are goose and Parallax open source? goose is open source (Apache-2.0).
