**fal music models.** Lyria, ElevenLabs, MiniMax, Stable Audio, Beatoven and open-weights models behind one queue API. Billing units differ per model (per track, per second, per minute rounded up).

## Before you call either

### ElevenLabs Music API

1. Strip artist and song names from user prompts before calling, or the request breaks the Music Terms
2. Pin `model_id`. The API default is still `music_v1`
3. Set `music_length_ms` and `force_instrumental: true` for background beds. Billing is by minute of audio
4. On 429, retry `system_busy` with exponential backoff, but treat `too_many_concurrent_requests` as a plan limit and queue
5. Don't plan on the MCP server for music. Its documented tools cover agents and speech

### fal music models

1. Submit to `queue.fal.run` and poll or use a webhook. Synchronous `fal.run` calls went down for 30 minutes on 2026-09-04
2. Check the unit on the model page. ElevenLabs v2.5 bills a whole minute for a 30-second clip
3. Pin the versioned endpoint, for example `fal-ai/elevenlabs/music/v2.5`
4. Use an API-scope key for agents, never an ADMIN key
5. For stems, run `fal-ai/demucs` on the output
