Ahead on: - Reliability, 53 against 18 - Agent ergonomics, 67 against 57 - Security & auth, 75 against 64 Watch for: Programmatic usage has no free credits. It draws only on the workspace credit pool, which Free seats cannot use ### Hexis Cloud (C) Good for: A team that wants its agent skills, company pages and tool credentials in one git repository, reviewed and access-controlled per file, and reached by any MCP client. Ahead on: - Schema & documentation, 83 against 75 - Payments & pricing, 30 against 20 - Transparency & trust, 75 against 68 Also in its favour: - Runs on your own machine - Free to start without a card Watch for: The terms and security page state no backups, no SLA, no penetration test, no certification and no MFA of its own ## Score by category | Category | Weight | Dust | Hexis Cloud | Edge | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Reliability | 16% (20 this run) | 53 | 18 | Dust +35 | | Performance | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Schema & documentation | 13% (16.2 this run) | 75 | 83 | Hexis Cloud +8 | | Agent ergonomics | 13% (16.2 this run) | 67 | 57 | Dust +10 | | Security & auth | 14% (17.5 this run) | 75 | 64 | Dust +11 | | Payments & pricing | 10% (12.5 this run) | 20 | 30 | Hexis Cloud +10 | | Task success | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Maintenance & community | 7% (8.8 this run) | 86 | 85 | Dust +1 | | Transparency & trust | 7% (8.8 this run) | 68 | 75 | Hexis Cloud +7 | | Negative events | ≤15 | 0 | 0 | | | **Total** | | **62.8 · B** | **55.3 · C** | | ## Facts side by side | Fact | Dust | Hexis Cloud | | --- | --- | --- | | Kind | HTTP API | MCP server | | Vendor | Permutation Labs | Bevelites GmbH (Bevel) | | Hosted endpoint | `https://dust.tt/mcp` | `https://.hexis.software/api/mcp` | | Transports | HTTP | Streamable HTTP, stdio | | Auth | OAuth or key | OAuth or key | | Pricing | Freemium | Freemium | | x402 | no | no | | Licence | MIT for the platform's source at github.com/dust-tt/dust. API calls that run agents draw only on a paid workspace credit pool, and the terms of service could not be read. **Hexis Cloud.** Agents reach a git-backed knowledge base, shared skills and connected tools through one OAuth MCP endpoint that applies each person's per-file permissions, with read-only connections and an audit log of tool calls. The hosted edition dates from 11 October 2026, and its own terms state no backups, no uptime commitment and no security certification. ## Before you call either ### Dust 1. Use `https://eu.dust.tt` for a workspace in the EU region and `https://dust.tt` otherwise, for both the API and the MCP server 2. Connect an MCP client by OAuth and send the `resource` parameter in authorisation and token requests. API keys do not work on the MCP server 3. Expect HTTP 429 with type `rate_limit_error` when the credit pool, the programmatic monthly cap or the key's spend cap is exhausted. Retrying will not help 4. Call `GET /api/v1/w/{wId}/search` with `limit` (1 to 100, default 25) and `cursor`, or a data source view's search with `top_k` 5. Keep document upserts under 120 a minute per workspace ### Hexis Cloud 1. Ask the person for a read-only connection when the task only reads. It answers canWrite false everywhere 2. Pass the branch you are working on to every knowledge-base tool. Calls without a required branch are refused 3. Check canWrite from list_files, read_file or get_skill before writing, and open a change request when it is false 4. Use list_tools and tools_info before call_tool_chain, and never ask the person for a tool's secret in chat 5. Keep your own copy of anything important. Hexis Cloud keeps no backups of Managed repositories ## Questions ### Which is better for AI agents, Dust or Hexis Cloud?
