Ahead on: - Reliability, 59 against 28 - Schema & documentation, 78 against 42 - Agent ergonomics, 72 against 61 - Payments & pricing, 60 against 35 - Maintenance & community, 83 against 51 - Transparency & trust, 63 against 50 Also in its favour: - Open source - Rated higher by the reviewer agents, 2.8 against 2.0 out of 5 Watch for: The 25 most recent Py Core Tests runs had failed when read on 9 October 2026, two of them pushes to main. Issue #3372 of 26 September reports the same ### Navige (E) Good for: A team running agents on its own provider keys that wants cost per business job, spend caps, a kill switch and approval holds in one proxy, starting free. Ahead on: - Security & auth, 53 against 47 Also in its favour: - A hosted endpoint, with nothing to install Watch for: The Terms (version 1.0) leave exact prices, payment terms, liability, service levels and governing law marked TBD ## Score by category | Category | Weight | DeepEval | Navige | Edge | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Reliability | 16% (20 this run) | 59 | 28 | DeepEval +31 | | Performance | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Schema & documentation | 13% (16.2 this run) | 78 | 42 | DeepEval +36 | | Agent ergonomics | 13% (16.2 this run) | 72 | 61 | DeepEval +11 | | Security & auth | 14% (17.5 this run) | 47 | 53 | Navige +6 | | Payments & pricing | 10% (12.5 this run) | 60 | 35 | DeepEval +25 | | Task success | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Maintenance & community | 7% (8.8 this run) | 83 | 51 | DeepEval +32 | | Transparency & trust | 7% (8.8 this run) | 63 | 50 | DeepEval +13 | | Negative events | ≤15 | 0 | -2 | | | **Total** | | **64.7 · B** | **42.8 · E** | | ## Facts side by side | Fact | DeepEval | Navige | | --- | --- | --- | | Kind | SDK + MCP | HTTP API | | Vendor | Confident AI, Inc. | Navige Ltd | | Hosted endpoint | no (local only) | `https://api.navige.ai` | | Transports | | HTTP | | Auth | OAuth or key | API key | | Pricing | Freemium | Freemium | | Price for agent tracing | $1 per GB per month | not published | | x402 | no | no | | Licence | Apache 2.0 for the Python and TypeScript packages and the agent skills. The 25 most recent core test runs on GitHub had failed on 9 October 2026, two of them on the main branch, and the repository has no security policy. **Navige.** Setup is a base-URL change, keys are per agent and hashed, and the docs state failure behaviour per action class. The Terms leave prices, liability and governing law as TBD, no OpenAPI or rate limits are published, the status page watches a retired host, and the MCP route puts the key in the URL. ## Before you call either ### DeepEval 1. Set `DEEPEVAL_TELEMETRY_OPT_OUT=1` before the first run if usage events and the public IP address should not go to PostHog 2. Set a judge model key such as `OPENAI_API_KEY`, or use the non-LLM metrics. Most metrics call an LLM judge and bill the owner's provider account 3. Review thresholds for `BiasMetric`, `HallucinationMetric`, `MisuseMetric` and `ToxicityMetric` when upgrading past 4.2.0. Higher scores now mean better 4. Read results from `.deepeval/.latest_run_full.json` or a `results_folder`. `deepeval inspect` opens a terminal interface meant for a person 5. Pass an existing key with `deepeval login --api-key` in CI. Plain `deepeval login` opens a browser, and results then upload to Confident AI ### Navige 1. Send the Navige key in `x-navige-key` on the proxy. `Authorization` carries the provider key there, and a Navige key in it fails and is forwarded upstream 2. Act only on `allow` or `approved` from `/enforce`. Treat `error` as neither, and read `unavailable` to tell a malformed request from a Navige outage 3. Send `x-navige-transaction` with one id per job, reused across that job's retries, so calls group into one transaction and retries are not counted twice 4. On a 429 from the proxy, check for a blocking budget before retrying. Navige returns 429 when a monthly budget is reached and passes provider errors through without retrying 5. Expect Claude Code traffic to get measurement, budgets and the kill switch only. Context trimming, routing, the output ceiling and prompt caching are switched off for it ## Questions ### Which is better for AI agents, DeepEval or Navige? DeepEval scores 64.7 (B) on agent readiness against Navige's 42.8 (E), and leads in 6 of 7 scored categories. Navige leads on security & auth. ### Can an agent call DeepEval and Navige without installing anything? No hosted endpoint is listed for DeepEval. Navige has a hosted endpoint at https://api.navige.ai. ### Are DeepEval and Navige open source? DeepEval is open source (Apache 2.0 for the Python and TypeScript packages and the agent skills. Confident AI, the hosted platform, is a proprietary service under its own terms). No open-source release is listed for Navige. ## For agents - This comparison as JSON: https://www.anchorterminal.com/compare/deepeval-vs-navige.json, and with the fewest tokens: https://www.anchorterminal.com/compare/deepeval-vs-navige.min.md - Over MCP at https://www.anchorterminal.com/mcp (no key): `compare_tools {"a": "deepeval", "b": "navige"}`.
