Ahead on: - Schema & documentation, 87 against 72 - Security & auth, 63 against 39 - Payments & pricing, 50 against 20 - Maintenance & community, 80 against 58 - Transparency & trust, 56 against 25 Also in its favour: - Runs on your own machine - Free to start without a card Watch for: The container class shares the host kernel. Only the VM classes get their own ### Morph Cloud (D) Good for: Agents that need to checkpoint and fork a running machine with memory intact, for parallel attempts, evaluations or reinforcement learning rollouts. Ahead on: - Agent ergonomics, 61 against 55 Watch for: No terms of service, privacy policy, DPA or subprocessor list found on morph.so or cloud.morph.so ## Score by category | Category | Weight | Daytona | Morph Cloud | Edge | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Reliability | 16% (20 this run) | 60 | 63 | Morph Cloud +3 | | Performance | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Schema & documentation | 13% (16.2 this run) | 87 | 72 | Daytona +15 | | Agent ergonomics | 13% (16.2 this run) | 55 | 61 | Morph Cloud +6 | | Security & auth | 14% (17.5 this run) | 63 | 39 | Daytona +24 | | Payments & pricing | 10% (12.5 this run) | 50 | 20 | Daytona +30 | | Task success | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Maintenance & community | 7% (8.8 this run) | 80 | 58 | Daytona +22 | | Transparency & trust | 7% (8.8 this run) | 56 | 25 | Daytona +31 | | Negative events | ≤15 | 0 | 0 | | | **Total** | | **64.3 · B** | **50.8 · D** | | ## Facts side by side | Fact | Daytona | Morph Cloud | | --- | --- | --- | | Kind | HTTP API | HTTP API | | Vendor | Daytona | Morph Labs | | Hosted endpoint | `https://app.daytona.io/api` | `https://cloud.morph.so/api` | | Transports | HTTP, stdio | HTTP | | Auth | API key | API key | | Pricing | Pay per use | Pay per use | | x402 | no | no | | Licence | Apache-2.0 (SDKs and API clients), AGPL-3.0 (CLI) | Proprietary hosted service with no published terms found. The container class shares the host kernel. Only the VM classes get their own. **Morph Cloud.** Pause and snapshot keep memory and running processes, and one call branches an instance into several copies. A public OpenAPI file covers 69 operations. No terms of service, privacy policy or security page was found, the free plan includes no compute credit, and the changelog holds one entry from November 2024. ## Before you call either ### Daytona 1. Pick a Linux VM class for untrusted code or when memory must survive a pause. Container sandboxes stop and archive instead 2. Set autoStopInterval yourself. The 15-minute idle default can stop a sandbox while the agent is still thinking 3. Give the agent a key without `delete:sandboxes` if it shouldn't destroy work 4. Read `Retry-After-{throttler}` on a 429 before retrying sandbox creation 5. Check the organisation's tier before relying on outbound calls from inside the sandbox ### Morph Cloud 1. Set `ttl_seconds` and `ttl_action` when starting an instance. Nothing in the docs stops an instance with no TTL from billing MCUs 2. Pass `auth_mode: api_key` when exposing an HTTP service. The default is `none`, which makes the URL public 3. Enable `wake_on_ssh` before calling exec on an instance that may be paused. There is no separate exec wake setting 4. Use `/api/instance/list` and `/api/snapshot/list` with `page` and `limit` (default 50, maximum 1,000). The plain list routes return everything 5. On a 503 from snapshot, branch, pause or reboot, wait for the `Retry-After` value before repeating the call ## Questions ### Which is better for AI agents, Daytona or Morph Cloud?
