Why the edge:
- Security & auth, VirusTotal +14: Censys 55 (Personal access tokens as a Bearer header, several per user, named, shown once and deletable, with no scopes or expiry stated. Service accounts on Search and Core plans use OAuth 2 client credentials with module roles and a rotatable secret, and the MCP server takes OAuth with a consent page. Only the organisation id, not a secret, may travel in the query string (26 of 30). Module roles (Analyst, Manager), an API Access role and the advice to grant service accounts only the roles they need, but no read-only token and no confirmation step for deleting a collection (12 of 20). Results carry banners, HTML titles and certificate subjects from scanned hosts, and no guidance on treating them as untrusted was found in the API, MCP or skills docs (3 of 15). A platform audit log for admins that records service account activity, credit usage per member through the API and `X-Request-ID` on every response, with no documented per-call log for token holders (10 of 15). security@censys.com on the contact page. security.txt 404, no bug bounty, and the compliance page says Censys helps customers with SOC 2, ISO 27001 and FedRAMP without claiming any for itself (4 of 20). 26 + 12 + 3 + 10 + 4 = 55.); VirusTotal 69 (A personal v3 key carries every privilege of the account, with no scopes, sent only in an `x-apikey` header. Licensed groups get service accounts with six roles and a daily cap each. VTAI MCP uses OAuth with three scopes, vt:reports:read, vt:submissions:write and vt:network-analysis:write, and REST agent tokens are revocable with one DELETE. No documented query-string option (24 of 30). The read scope and readOnlyHint tools give a read-only mode; submission tools have no per-call confirmation of their own, so consent rests on the client and the `X-VTAI-Consent` header (15 of 20). Reports carry third-party text and `ai_insights`, and the VTAI pages say to treat report text as data, not instructions, and never to read a missing report as safety (12 of 15). Group administrators see consumption by endpoint and by user, VTAI shows OAuth connections at /oauth/connections, and no per-call log for a personal key was found (8 of 15). SECURITY.md in the MCP repository points to the Google Bug Hunters form, and the SecOps SLA and privacy notice are Google Cloud documents, but www.virustotal.com has no security.txt and whether VirusTotal is in scope of Google Cloud's SOC 2 and ISO 27001 reports could not be read (10 of 20). 24 + 15 + 12 + 8 + 10 = 69.)
- Schema & documentation, Censys +5: Censys 82 (OpenAPI 3.1.0, titled Censys Platform API, version 1.0.161, served inside each reference page and the source of the three Speakeasy SDKs. No standalone download was found, and the censys-sdk-openapi repository holds only a README (22 of 25). llms.txt at docs.censys.com with a Markdown twin of every page (10). Endpoint descriptions state purpose and a use case ('Run a search query across Censys data', a SOC hunting for a C2 banner, JARM or favicon hash), MCP tools say what each does, with little on when not to use a call (14 of 20). Typed path, query and body fields, `page_size` default and maximum 100, required `query`, an Accept header for schema versions. The query itself is a CenQL string with its own language docs (11 of 15). Code samples in shell, Python, Go, JavaScript and Java, a status code table and problem+json ErrorModel bodies, but the search operation's usage example block is empty and 429 isn't among its responses (10 of 15). Versioned paths and Accept header, a dated changelog every week from 8 September to 2 November 2026 (15). 22 + 10 + 14 + 11 + 10 + 15 = 82.); VirusTotal 77 (VTAI publishes an OpenAPI 3.1 document at ai.virustotal.com/openapi.json with 17 operations, and the MCP tools take typed JSON Schema inputs with annotations. No OpenAPI document was found for the v3 API, whose reference lists typed parameters page by page (20 of 25). llms.txt on both hosts, 650 links on virustotal.readme.io and an agent manifest plus a Markdown quickstart at /skills/BASIC.md on ai.virustotal.com (10). VTAI descriptions and skills say when to look up, when not to submit, and what a missing report does not prove. v3 endpoint descriptions are one line, such as "Retrieve information about a file" (15 of 20). Enums for indicator_type, analysis status, pending_reason and rejection codes, a consent header fixed to `standard-v1`, required path parameters. The v3 pages read carry no constraints beyond the hash formats (11 of 15). 16 documented v3 error codes with HTTP statuses and a JSON envelope, and VTAI documents 401, 404 and 429 per operation, but the v3 file report page read shows no example request or response body (11 of 15). Version in the path (v3, with v2 still served) and dated release notes for vt-mcp, but no changelog for the API itself (10 of 15). 20 + 10 + 15 + 11 + 11 + 10 = 77.)
- Payments & pricing, VirusTotal +5: Censys 35 (No x402, MPP or L402 (0). Starter at $79 a month for 500 credits and Starter Pro at $599 for 4,000 are public in the docs with one credit an action, which gives a per-call price, while Core and higher plans and credit top-ups are priced by sales (15 of 20). A free account gets 100 credits a month and five free actions a day with no card named (20). Signup, token creation and Starter purchase all happen in a browser, and no key API was found (0). 0 + 15 + 20 + 0 = 35.); VirusTotal 40 (No x402, MPP or L402 (0). Premium quotas and Google Threat Intelligence are sold by contacting sales, and no price was found on any page read (0). A public key gives 500 requests a day and VTAI 1,000 a day, with no card (20). An agent registers itself with `POST /api/v3/agents/register` and receives a token in the response, no browser or person involved (20). 0 + 0 + 20 + 20 = 40.)
