Ahead on: - Payments & pricing, 60 against 25 Also in its favour: - No key needed to call it Watch for: Closed source under a licence that forbids reverse engineering ### UiPath (B) Good for: An agent that needs to drive Windows desktop or legacy applications through robots a company already runs, started as MCP tools or API jobs. Ahead on: - Schema & documentation, 79 against 52 - Agent ergonomics, 73 against 51 - Security & auth, 82 against 20 - Maintenance & community, 80 against 20 - Transparency & trust, 76 against 57 Also in its favour: - A hosted endpoint, with nothing to install Watch for: Standard and Enterprise prices are not published, and robot licences are sold through sales ## Score by category | Category | Weight | AutoIt | UiPath | Edge | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Reliability | 16% (20 this run) | 59 | 62 | UiPath +3 | | Performance | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Schema & documentation | 13% (16.2 this run) | 52 | 79 | UiPath +27 | | Agent ergonomics | 13% (16.2 this run) | 51 | 73 | UiPath +22 | | Security & auth | 14% (17.5 this run) | 20 | 82 | UiPath +62 | | Payments & pricing | 10% (12.5 this run) | 60 | 25 | AutoIt +35 | | Task success | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Maintenance & community | 7% (8.8 this run) | 20 | 80 | UiPath +60 | | Transparency & trust | 7% (8.8 this run) | 57 | 76 | UiPath +19 | | Negative events | ≤15 | 0 | 0 | | | **Total** | | **46.3 · D** | **68.2 · B** | | ## Facts side by side | Fact | AutoIt | UiPath | | --- | --- | --- | | Kind | SDK + MCP | HTTP API | | Vendor | AutoIt Consulting | UiPath | | Hosted endpoint | no (local only) | `https://cloud.uipath.com/{org}/{tenant}/agenthub_/mcp/{folderKey}/{slug}` | | Transports | | HTTP | | Auth | None | OAuth | | Pricing | Free | Freemium | | x402 | no | no | | Licence | Freeware under the AutoIt end-user licence agreement, source not published | Proprietary service under the UiPath Master Software and Services Agreement, the Community Agreement for the free plan | | Read-only variant documented | no | no | | llms.txt | no | yes | | Last release | 2025-09-07 | 2026-10-12 | | Terms last updated | no date given | couldn't be read | | Privacy policy last updated | no date given | no date given | | Customer content may train models | not found in the text | yes | | Terms restrict automated access | not found in the text | couldn't be read | | Terms restrict benchmarking | not found in the text | couldn't be read | | Terms or service can change without notice | not found in the text | couldn't be read | | Arbitration or class-action waiver | not found in the text | couldn't be read | ## Verdicts **AutoIt.** An agent can run AutoIt scripts or single lines from the command line, or call AutoItX from C# or PowerShell, with each function's return values and `@error` codes documented. The source is closed, the last release was 7 September 2025, and scripts act with the full rights of the Windows user. **UiPath.** Orchestrator exposes published RPA workflows, agents and API workflows as MCP tools over Streamable HTTP, with MCP OAuth, scoped PATs and an OpenAPI 3.0 API. Prices above the $25 Basic plan need a sales conversation, and the status page logged several multi-hour incidents between 10 September and 13 October 2026. ## Before you call either ### AutoIt 1. Pass `/ErrorStdOut` so a fatal error reaches stdout instead of a dialog 2. Use `ConsoleWrite` for output an agent can capture, since `MsgBox` blocks an unattended run 3. Check `@error` after each call. Functions report failure there, not by raising 4. Install the official package from autoitscript.com. NuGet copies of AutoItX are third-party repackages ### UiPath 1. Send `Authorization: Bearer ` on every MCP request. The `mcp-session-id` header carries no authentication 2. Give a PAT both `OR.Execution` (list tools) and `OR.Jobs` (run tools), or tool listing or calls fail 3. Use client credentials from an external application for unattended runs. It is the only method that needs no person at sign-in 4. Add a folder header such as `X-UIPATH-FolderKey` to Orchestrator API calls on folder resources 5. Read job outputs with `GET /odata/Jobs({key})`. `GET /odata/Jobs` returns InputArguments and OutputArguments as null and is limited to 100 calls a minute per tenant ## Questions ### Which is better for AI agents, AutoIt or UiPath?
