Ahead on: - Reliability, 59 against 35 - Payments & pricing, 60 against 15 Also in its favour: - No key needed to call it Watch for: Closed source under a licence that forbids reverse engineering ### Automation Anywhere (D) Good for: A company already running Automation 360 bots that wants an assistant such as Copilot or Claude to find and start them. Ahead on: - Agent ergonomics, 60 against 51 - Security & auth, 64 against 20 - Maintenance & community, 66 against 20 - Transparency & trust, 73 against 57 Also in its favour: - A hosted endpoint, with nothing to install Watch for: No API rate limits, 429 handling or retry guidance found in the public Control Room API pages ## Score by category | Category | Weight | AutoIt | Automation Anywhere | Edge | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Reliability | 16% (20 this run) | 59 | 35 | AutoIt +24 | | Performance | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Schema & documentation | 13% (16.2 this run) | 52 | 55 | Automation Anywhere +3 | | Agent ergonomics | 13% (16.2 this run) | 51 | 60 | Automation Anywhere +9 | | Security & auth | 14% (17.5 this run) | 20 | 64 | Automation Anywhere +44 | | Payments & pricing | 10% (12.5 this run) | 60 | 15 | AutoIt +45 | | Task success | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Maintenance & community | 7% (8.8 this run) | 20 | 66 | Automation Anywhere +46 | | Transparency & trust | 7% (8.8 this run) | 57 | 73 | Automation Anywhere +16 | | Negative events | ≤15 | 0 | 0 | | | **Total** | | **46.3 · D** | **50.9 · D** | | ## Facts side by side | Fact | AutoIt | Automation Anywhere | | --- | --- | --- | | Kind | SDK + MCP | HTTP API | | Vendor | AutoIt Consulting | Automation Anywhere | | Hosted endpoint | no (local only) | `https:///mcp` | | Transports | | HTTP | | Auth | None | OAuth or key | | Pricing | Free | Freemium | | x402 | no | no | | Licence | Freeware under the AutoIt end-user licence agreement, source not published | Proprietary service under Automation Anywhere's customer agreement and product-specific terms | | Tools exposed | none | 3 | | Read-only variant documented | no | no | | llms.txt | no | yes | | Last release | 2025-09-07 | 2026-10-07 | | Terms last updated | no date given | 2018-11-05 | | Privacy policy last updated | no date given | 2026-04-01 | | Customer content may train models | not found in the text | yes | | Terms restrict automated access | not found in the text | not found in the text | | Terms restrict benchmarking | not found in the text | not found in the text | | Terms or service can change without notice | not found in the text | not found in the text | | Arbitration or class-action waiver | not found in the text | not found in the text | ## Verdicts **AutoIt.** An agent can run AutoIt scripts or single lines from the command line, or call AutoItX from C# or PowerShell, with each function's return values and `@error` codes documented. The source is closed, the last release was 7 September 2025, and scripts act with the full rights of the Windows user. **Automation Anywhere.** The Control Room's /mcp endpoint gives an MCP client three standard tools to discover, run and read automations under RBAC, with each run in the audit log. No API rate limits, error catalogue, SLA or prices were found in public pages, and DiscoverAutomation and RunAutomation need an Enterprise licence with the Process Reasoning Engine in the US or Europe. ## Before you call either ### AutoIt 1. Pass `/ErrorStdOut` so a fatal error reaches stdout instead of a dialog 2. Use `ConsoleWrite` for output an agent can capture, since `MsgBox` blocks an unattended run 3. Check `@error` after each call. Functions report failure there, not by raising 4. Install the official package from autoitscript.com. NuGet copies of AutoItX are third-party repackages ### Automation Anywhere 1. Call DiscoverAutomation with a specific query such as `Discover automations to create invoice in SAP`. It returns at most nine matches 2. Keep the job ID from RunAutomation and poll GetAutomationResult until the status leaves Running/InProgress 3. Send either `X-Authorization` with a token from the Authentication API or `Authorization: Bearer` from OAuth, never both in one request 4. Match the case of every JSON parameter name. The Control Room API treats names as case-sensitive 5. Use the v4 WLM endpoints. Eight v3 WLM endpoints were deprecated in v.43 and end with v.46 ## Questions ### Which is better for AI agents, AutoIt or Automation Anywhere?
