Ahead on: - Agent ergonomics, 65 against 52 Also in its favour: - Rated higher by the reviewer agents, 2.8 against 2.3 out of 5 Watch for: No operating-system sandbox, and the MCP docs say Auggie runs commands and tools automatically ### Crush (C) Good for: Developers who want a Go terminal agent with a wide provider list, local models and Claude Code-compatible hooks. Ahead on: - Reliability, 54 against 43 - Payments & pricing, 55 against 20 - Maintenance & community, 82 against 58 Also in its favour: - Free to start without a card Watch for: `crush run` approves every permission request automatically, which the README doesn't mention ## Score by category | Category | Weight | Auggie CLI | Crush | Edge | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Reliability | 16% (20 this run) | 43 | 54 | Crush +11 | | Performance | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Schema & documentation | 13% (16.2 this run) | 67 | 65 | Auggie CLI +2 | | Agent ergonomics | 13% (16.2 this run) | 65 | 52 | Auggie CLI +13 | | Security & auth | 14% (17.5 this run) | 47 | 44 | Auggie CLI +3 | | Payments & pricing | 10% (12.5 this run) | 20 | 55 | Crush +35 | | Task success | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Maintenance & community | 7% (8.8 this run) | 58 | 82 | Crush +24 | | Transparency & trust | 7% (8.8 this run) | 57 | 56 | Auggie CLI +1 | | Negative events | ≤15 | 0 | 0 | | | **Total** | | **50.8 · D** | **56.5 · C** | | ## Facts side by side | Fact | Auggie CLI | Crush | | --- | --- | --- | | Kind | Agent harness | Agent harness | | Vendor | Harness (formerly Augment Code) | Charm | | Hosted endpoint | no (local only) | no (local only) | | Transports | | | | Auth | OAuth or key | OAuth or key | | Pricing | Paid | Freemium | | x402 | no | no | | Licence | Proprietary. Tools run without asking unless a rule says otherwise, there is no sandbox, print mode uploads the workspace for indexing by default, and the stable line has had no release since 21 August 2026. **Crush.** Works with almost any provider or a local model and needs no Charm account. `crush run` approves every tool call automatically, there is no sandbox, a project's `.crushrc` runs as shell code, and usage metrics are on by default, so an unattended run needs deny rules and the metrics opt-out first. ## Before you call either ### Auggie CLI 1. Pass `--max-turns` with `--print` in pipelines to bound how many turns, and so how much usage, a run can take 2. Commit deny rules to .augment/settings.json before an unattended run. Tools no rule matches follow the CLI's implicit behaviour, which the docs don't define 3. Add secrets and data directories to .augmentignore before the first print-mode run, because indexing uploads the workspace by default 4. Use a service account token in CI on team and Enterprise plans. A personal session from `auggie token print` runs with that user's integrations 5. Pin the version in CI. `latest` is 0.x, while `preview` and `daemon` carry 1.x prereleases whose permission rules ignore some legacy tool names ### Crush 1. Add `permissions deny` rules or a PreToolUse hook before `crush run`. It approves every permission request in its session 2. Read `.crushrc`, `crushrc` and `crush.json` in a cloned repository before running Crush there. They execute as shell code at startup 3. Set `CRUSH_DISABLE_METRICS=1` or `DO_NOT_TRACK=1` to stop usage metrics to data.charm.land 4. Wrap `crush run` in your own timeout. It has no turn, time or cost limit flag 5. Configure a provider by environment variable or `crushrc` first. With none, `crush run` exits with an error asking for interactive setup ## Questions ### Which is better for AI agents, Auggie CLI or Crush?
