The dashboard history file (newest event 30 October 2026) lists no Bedrock event in the 90 days from 8 August, and the 3 September us-west-2 event names STS, Connect and IAM Identity Center, not Bedrock. The public dashboard records broad events only, so 25 of 30, as amazon-nova-embeddings was read. Quotas published, 20 concurrent requests per Region, not adjustable (15). The stream API lists `ThrottlingException` (429), `ServiceUnavailableException` (503), `ModelTimeoutException` (408) and `ModelStreamErrorException` (424), Bedrock's troubleshooting guide advises backoff with jitter, and the 8-minute connection limit comes with a session-continuation sample (15). Bedrock's SLA of 99.9 per cent a month per Region for model APIs, as read for amazon-nova-embeddings on 1 November (10). Generally available since 2 December 2025 (10). 20 + 25 + 15 + 15 + 10 + 10 = 95.",

Re-read on 1 November. The feed (102 items) names Live in one incident, the 21 October degraded performance across ChatGPT, Codex and the APIs, where the incident page has Live degraded from 02:26 to 02:48 UTC, 22 minutes and minor. The API-wide majors of 17 and 29 September fall before the component existed, so whether they touched Live can't be read, and most of the window since general availability on 10 September has no readable history. An unreadable window isn't credited (5 of 30). The model page, re-read on 1 November, publishes concurrent session limits per tier, 50 on Build, 300 on Launch and 500 on Grow, and the SIP guide gives a 3-minute ringing limit and a 2-hour call limit (15). The OpenAPI file lists 429 and 503 on session creation and the rate limits guide documents `Retry-After` and backoff. Safe-retry guidance is explicit (check an action's outcome before retrying, deduplicate webhooks and events by ID, never retry an outbound call after a timeout), but session creation has no idempotency key (12 of 15). No SLA was found in the developer docs (0). Generally available since 10 September 2026 (10). Native Decisions delegation rests on the Decisions API, generally available since 22 October. 20 + 5 + 15 + 12 + 0 + 10 = 62."

Fields carry enums and limits, such as `delegation.type`, SIP reject codes 300 to 699 and 500-token appends, but `model` also accepts any string and the Live MCP tool schema types only `type` (12 of 15). Python and JavaScript examples on every guide, an `error` event with a documented shape and several named codes, and a table of close reasons. It also says there is no public endpoint to delete a stored session. Those are stated conditions, not statements that disagree. The DPA, effective 1 January 2026, commits to return or deletion of customer data on termination, 30 days to object to a new subprocessor, and SCCs with the UK Addendum, and nothing in it conflicts with the guide, per the OpenAI API listing's 4 October check, not re-read on 1 November (openai.com answered 403). AWS Health Dashboard with per-service, per-Region history (20). 20 + 25 + 15 + 15 + 10 + 10 = 95.\n- GPT-Live (62): Graded as a hosted API. status.openai.com has a Live component under APIs, with data available from 19:53 UTC on 16 October 2026, five weeks after general availability (20). 20 + 5 + 15 + 12 + 0 + 10 = 62.\n\n### Maintenance \u0026 community: GPT-Live +32\n\n- Amazon Nova 2 Sonic (50): Read as a model. The newest dated change is the May 2026 refresh, completed on 28 May, 162 days before this check (10). No Sonic release note or document history entry in the 90 days from 8 August. The pre-alpha Python SDK shipped 0.9.0, 0.10.0, 0.11.0 and 0.12.0 in the window, counted half (10 of 20). Release notes, document history, re:Post and AWS Support (10 of 15). The JavaScript Bedrock runtime client is current at 3.1163.0, while the Python route is pre-alpha (10 of 15). The SDKs ship on AWS's release train; CI not read (10). Total 50.\n- GPT-Live (82): The last dated changelog entry tagged `v1/live/sessions` is still 16 October 2026, and the Live contract changed again after it, with the Decisions inputs revised on 24 October and a SIP DTMF command added on 28 October in the OpenAPI file, shipped in the Python SDK 3.42.0 on 31 October (30). Three changelog entries in the last 90 days, on 10 September, 15 October and 16 October (20). Closed service with a changelog updated several times a week and a community forum and Discord linked from the docs, which we did not test (10 of 15). Current official SDKs, with `openai` for Python at 3.42.0 on 31 October 2026 and Live changes in several releases since 10 September (15). The SDK is Apache-2.0 and released often. Its CI results were not read (7 of 10). 30 + 20 + 10 + 15 + 7 = 82.\n\n### Schema \u0026 documentation: GPT-Live +12\n\n- Amazon Nova 2 Sonic (75): The Bedrock service model types `InvokeModelWithBidirectionalStream`, but the Sonic events inside it (session, prompt, content, tool and usage events) are JSON payloads documented only in the guide, with no schema file (12 of 25). llms.txt and Markdown copies of the Nova 2 guide (10). Guides on the event lifecycle, barge-in, turn-taking, async tools and chat history say when and how to use each (16 of 20). Event fields are documented as JSON examples and tables, not typed schemas (10 of 15). Sample repositories in several languages and the API's exceptions with HTTP codes (12 of 15). Release notes and document history, with in-place model refreshes and a versioned model ID (15). Total 75.\n- GPT-Live (87): The OpenAPI 3.1 file in `openai/openai-openapi` (re-read from a clone at its 31 October commit) has seven `/live/sessions` paths and 190 component schemas whose names start with Live by our count, up from the 17 October file with the 24 October revision of Decisions inputs and the 28 October DTMF command, and typed client and server events on the primary and sideband connections. It is not an AsyncAPI document, so the WebSocket channels are described only as event schemas (22 of 25). llms.txt and a Markdown twin of every page (10). The delegation guide has a table of when to choose Responses or client delegation, the connection guides say when to use WebRTC, WebSocket or SIP, and the Decisions guide says when to delegate or react to transcripts (17 of 20). No full catalogue of Live error codes was found, and three JavaScript examples in the Markdown twins are empty (12 of 15). A dated changelog tags entries with `v1/live/sessions`, there is one snapshot, and the deprecated webhook event is named (14 of 15).\n\n### Agent ergonomics: GPT-Live +12\n\n- Amazon Nova 2 Sonic (64): Scored as an API. Responses carry transcripts of both sides and usage events, chat history is capped at 200 KB and can be injected once per session (15 of 25). Output controls are voice, turn-taking sensitivity and text or audio input (12 of 20). Typed exceptions with HTTP codes, while errors inside the event stream are less documented (15 of 20). Asynchronous tool calls let the model keep talking, and AWS samples show how to resume after the 8-minute limit, with nothing on repeating tool side effects after a reconnect (12 of 20). A session needs a sequence of start events before audio. The JavaScript SDK is current, but the Python SDK the quickstart uses is pre-alpha and needs Python 3.12 (10 of 15). Total 64.\n- GPT-Live (76): Scored as a model API. Context is managed by the service in a 128,000-token window with background summaries, startup history is capped at 128 messages and 8,192 tokens, and `session.usage.updated` reports a context `usage_ratio`. The client cannot set its own truncation (20 of 25). There are no lists to page. The WebRTC frontend can be restricted to listed server events, transcripts are optional, and backend `max_output_tokens` is configurable (12 of 20). Errors carry code, param and the `client_event_id` of the failed command, configuration errors have their own code, and `session.closed` gives a reason (17 of 20). Commands are matched to acknowledgements by `event_id`, the sideband replays 3 seconds with original event IDs, and stored sessions can be forked to resume after a drop. Session creation has no idempotency key and outbound calls must not be retried (12 of 20). Only `model` is required, the voice defaults to `marin`, and the `openai` SDKs for Python and Node.js have Live resources, with partner integrations for LiveKit and Pipecat (15).\n\n### Transparency \u0026 trust: GPT-Live +11\n\n- Amazon Nova 2 Sonic (79): Closed model under the AWS Service Terms, with Apache-2.0 SDKs and samples (15). Bedrock stores no inputs or outputs by default and model providers can't see them, Sonic isn't on the abuse-detection page's list of models whose traffic is stored, and section 50.3 doesn't list Bedrock among services whose content improves AWS services, as read for amazon-nova-embeddings on 1 November (22 of 30). Bedrock's lifecycle policy for models launched before 7 September 2026 promises 12 months and a Legacy period of at least 6 months, but the March and May refreshes changed the model in place under the same ID (15 of 20). Regions are listed, with sub-processors not read (12 of 20). Total 64.\n- GPT-Live (90): Closed service. The Python SDK is Apache-2.0, and the OpenAPI file and the Live Console sample are MIT. The services agreement is scored as the OpenAI API listing scores it, per that listing's check, since openai.com answered our reader with 403 (15 of 30, was 10, the reading every other OpenAI listing carries). The data controls page, re-read on 1 November, says `/v1/live/sessions` data is not used for training, abuse logs are kept up to 30 days, recordings are stored for 30 days only when `store` is true and storage is enabled, and Zero Data Retention treats `store` as false. The same reading as the other OpenAI listings (30 of 30, was 18). The deprecations page states at least six months' notice for generally available models and lists dated shutdowns (20 of 20). The data-controls guide lists `/v1/live/sessions` for storage and processing in the United States and Europe only, narrower than most OpenAI endpoints, and the subprocessor list, updated 9 July 2026, names third-party subprocessors and OpenAI affiliates with processing countries and a notice form, per the OpenAI API listing's 4 October check. Locations and subprocessors are disclosed, which is what the line scores (20 of 20, was 10). 15 + 30 + 20 + 20 = 85.\n\n### Payments \u0026 pricing: GPT-Live +10\n\n- Amazon Nova 2 Sonic (10): No x402, MPP or L402 (0). The Nova and Bedrock pricing pages carry a speech-to-speech table drawn by script, so the per-token prices weren't read and this line scores absent, which is our reader's limit and not the vendor's (0). New accounts get up to $200 in Free Tier credits, and the Free Tier FAQ says most new customers need no payment method, read as half on the other AWS listings (10). A person signs up for an AWS account in a browser (0). Total 10.\n- GPT-Live (20): No x402, MPP or L402 in the docs or the OpenAPI file (0 of 40). The per-minute session price is published without a login on the model and pricing pages (20). The model page lists the Free usage tier as unsupported for `gpt-live-1` (0). API keys are created in the platform after a browser sign-in (0).\n\n## Score by category\n\n| Category | Weight | Amazon Nova 2 Sonic | GPT-Live | Edge |\n| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |\n| Reliability | 16% (20 this run) | 95 | 62 | Amazon Nova 2 Sonic +33 |\n| Performance | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run |\n| Schema \u0026 documentation | 13% (16.2 this run) | 75 | 87 | GPT-Live +12 |\n| Agent ergonomics | 13% (16.2 this run) | 64 | 76 | GPT-Live +12 |\n| Security \u0026 auth | 14% (17.5 this run) | 77 | 81 | GPT-Live +4 |\n| Payments \u0026 pricing | 10% (12.5 this run) | 10 | 20 | GPT-Live +10 |\n| Task success | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run |\n| Maintenance \u0026 community | 7% (8.8 this run) | 50 | 82 | GPT-Live +32 |\n| Transparency \u0026 trust | 7% (8.8 this run) | 79 | 90 | GPT-Live +11 |\n| Negative events | ≤15 | 0 | 0 | |\n| **Total** | | **67.6 · B** | **70.6 · BB** | |\n\n## Facts side by side\n\n| Fact | Amazon Nova 2 Sonic | GPT-Live |\n| --- | --- | --- |\n| Kind | HTTP API | HTTP API |\n| Vendor | Amazon Web Services | OpenAI |\n| Hosted endpoint | no (local only) | `https://api.openai.com/v1/live/sessions` |\n| Transports | HTTP | HTTP |\n| Auth | API key | API key |\n| Pricing | Pay per use | Pay per use |\n| x402 | no | no |\n| Licence | none | Proprietary service. Sessions cut off at 8 minutes, the Python SDK is pre-alpha, and the event payloads have no schema file. Prices are in a script-drawn table we couldn't read.\n\n**GPT-Live.** A generally available full-duplex voice API with a typed OpenAPI contract, published concurrency limits and a flat $0.05 a minute for the voice session. Its status component dates from 16 October, so most of its life has no incident history, the Free tier is excluded, and a sideband event was renamed on 28 October without notice.\n\n## Before you call either\n\n### Amazon Nova 2 Sonic\n\n1. Plan a reconnect before 8 minutes and replay chat history (up to 200 KB) at the start of the new session\n2. Send session, prompt and content start events in order before any audio\n3. Make tool calls safe to repeat, since a reconnect can replay them\n4. Back off on `ThrottlingException` and stay within 20 concurrent sessions per Region\n5. Use the polyglot voices TIFFANY or MATTHEW when callers may switch language\n\n### GPT-Live\n\n1. Create sessions on a server with the project API key. GPT-Live has no browser client secret, so the server exchanges the browser's SDP offer with `POST /v1/live/sessions`.\n2. Choose `delegation.type` at creation. Changing between client, Responses and Decisions delegation needs a new session, and `delegation: null` selects client mode.\n3. After `session.started`, listen for `error` with code `responses_validation_failed`. Responses settings are validated asynchronously and are not rolled back.\n4. Do not retry an outbound SIP `POST /v1/live/sessions` after a timeout. Attach the sideband at once, since it replays only the last 3 seconds of events.\n5. Keep the transport open until `session.closed` to read the final `usage.seconds`. A WebRTC session bills 15 seconds at creation, credited once it runs.\n6. On SIP calls, send keypresses with `transport.dtmf.send` on the sideband and wait for `transport.dtmf.sent`. Before 28 October that delivery event was named `transport.dtmf.send`.\n\n## Questions\n\n### Which is better for AI agents, Amazon Nova 2 Sonic or GPT-Live?\n\nGPT-Live scores 70.6 (BB) on agent readiness against Amazon Nova 2 Sonic's 67.6 (B), and leads in 6 of 7 scored categories. Amazon Nova 2 Sonic leads on reliability.\n\n### Do Amazon Nova 2 Sonic and GPT-Live need an API key?\n\nBoth need an API key.\n\n### Can an agent call Amazon Nova 2 Sonic and GPT-Live without installing anything?\n\nNo hosted endpoint is listed for Amazon Nova 2 Sonic. GPT-Live has a hosted endpoint at https://api.openai.com/v1/live/sessions.\n\n\n## For agents\n\n- This comparison as JSON: https://www.anchorterminal.com/compare/amazon-nova-sonic-vs-gpt-live.json, and with the fewest tokens: https://www.anchorterminal.com/compare/amazon-nova-sonic-vs-gpt-live.min.md\n- Over MCP at https://www.anchorterminal.com/mcp (no key): `compare_tools {\"a\": \"amazon-nova-sonic\", \"b\": \"gpt-live\"}`.
