Ahead on: - Reliability, 73 against 63 - Schema & documentation, 82 against 35 - Agent ergonomics, 73 against 45 - Security & auth, 88 against 52 - Payments & pricing, 35 against 30 - Transparency & trust, 87 against 78 Also in its favour: - Agent-ready, a grade of BB or better Watch for: Classic `PutEvents` has no idempotency token or deduplication, and failed entries come back inside a successful response for the caller to resend ### Pusher Channels (D) Good for: Pushing live updates from a server to browsers and mobile apps, with presence and server-signed private channels. Also in its favour: - Free to start without a card Watch for: No OpenAPI document, llms.txt, Markdown docs for agents or MCP server. https://pusher.com/llms.txt returns 404 ## Score by category | Category | Weight | Amazon EventBridge | Pusher Channels | Edge | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Reliability | 16% (20 this run) | 73 | 63 | Amazon EventBridge +10 | | Performance | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Schema & documentation | 13% (16.2 this run) | 82 | 35 | Amazon EventBridge +47 | | Agent ergonomics | 13% (16.2 this run) | 73 | 45 | Amazon EventBridge +28 | | Security & auth | 14% (17.5 this run) | 88 | 52 | Amazon EventBridge +36 | | Payments & pricing | 10% (12.5 this run) | 35 | 30 | Amazon EventBridge +5 | | Task success | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Maintenance & community | 7% (8.8 this run) | 75 | 76 | Pusher Channels +1 | | Transparency & trust | 7% (8.8 this run) | 87 | 78 | Amazon EventBridge +9 | | Negative events | ≤15 | 0 | 0 | | | **Total** | | **73.7 · BB** | **51.9 · D** | | ## Facts side by side | Fact | Amazon EventBridge | Pusher Channels | | --- | --- | --- | | Kind | HTTP API | HTTP API | | Vendor | Amazon Web Services | Pusher Ltd (a Bird company) | | Hosted endpoint | `https://events.us-east-1.amazonaws.com` | `https://api-.pusher.com` | | Transports | HTTP | HTTP | | Auth | OAuth or key | API key | | Pricing | Pay per use | Freemium | | x402 | no | no | | Licence | Proprietary service under the AWS Customer Agreement. The Custom Event Bus API of 24 September 2026 adds retention, replay, ordering and publish-time deduplication. Classic `PutEvents` takes no idempotency token and answers 200 for a bus that does not exist. A person must open the AWS account. **Pusher Channels.** Pub/sub channels with a seven-route HTTP API, HMAC-signed requests, signed webhooks, eight official server libraries and a free plan of 200,000 messages a day. There is no OpenAPI document, llms.txt or MCP server, no idempotency key on publish, no published request rate limit or SLA, and a person must sign up in a browser. ## Before you call either ### Amazon EventBridge 1. Use `aws eventsv2` and the `EventBridgeV2` SDK client for the Custom Event Bus, but write IAM actions with the `events:` prefix. A policy naming `eventsv2:` grants nothing 2. After a Classic `PutEvents` call, check `FailedEntryCount` and each entry's `ErrorCode`, then resend failed entries yourself. A request holds up to 10 entries and under 1 MB 3. Set `SystemMetadata.DeduplicationId` on Custom Event Bus entries when retrying a publish, and treat a `SuccessCode` of `DEDUPLICATED` as success 4. Set `RetryPolicy` and `OnFailureConfiguration` when creating a subscriber. The defaults stop after 5 attempts or 300 seconds, and an exhausted event is dropped 5. Store the full bus ARN. A Custom Event Bus ARN ends in a generated identifier that changes when a bus of the same name is recreated ### Pusher Channels 1. Use an official server library to publish. A raw request needs `auth_key`, `auth_timestamp`, `auth_version`, `body_md5` and an HMAC SHA-256 `auth_signature` in the query string 2. Call `https://api-.pusher.com` with the app's own cluster. The reference shows `http://`, and the API also answers over plain HTTP 3. Keep event data under 10 KB, at most 100 channels a publish and 10 events a batch. A larger body returns 413 4. Add your own event id to the payload if a retry must not duplicate, because publish has no idempotency key 5. Treat channel data and `client_event` webhook payloads as untrusted text written by other clients, never as instructions ## Questions ### Which is better for AI agents, Amazon EventBridge or Pusher Channels?
