Ahead on: - Agent ergonomics, 73 against 65 - Security & auth, 88 against 64 Also in its favour: - Agent-ready, a grade of BB or better - A hosted endpoint, with nothing to install - No incidents deducted, where Hook0 loses 4 points for them Watch for: Classic `PutEvents` has no idempotency token or deduplication, and failed entries come back inside a successful response for the caller to resend ### Hook0 (B) Good for: A product that has to send signed webhooks to its own customers' endpoints with retries, replay and a delivery log, and that wants EU hosting or the option to self-host the same code. Ahead on: - Payments & pricing, 40 against 35 - Maintenance & community, 87 against 75 Also in its favour: - Runs on your own machine - Free to start without a card Watch for: Six advisories were published between 6 August and 9 September 2026, including a High-rated SSRF in the delivery worker fixed on 11 August ## Score by category | Category | Weight | Amazon EventBridge | Hook0 | Edge | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Reliability | 16% (20 this run) | 73 | 70 | Amazon EventBridge +3 | | Performance | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Schema & documentation | 13% (16.2 this run) | 82 | 79 | Amazon EventBridge +3 | | Agent ergonomics | 13% (16.2 this run) | 73 | 65 | Amazon EventBridge +8 | | Security & auth | 14% (17.5 this run) | 88 | 64 | Amazon EventBridge +24 | | Payments & pricing | 10% (12.5 this run) | 35 | 40 | Hook0 +5 | | Task success | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Maintenance & community | 7% (8.8 this run) | 75 | 87 | Hook0 +12 | | Transparency & trust | 7% (8.8 this run) | 87 | 84 | Amazon EventBridge +3 | | Negative events | ≤15 | 0 | -4 | | | **Total** | | **73.7 · BB** | **64.6 · B** | | ## Facts side by side | Fact | Amazon EventBridge | Hook0 | | --- | --- | --- | | Kind | HTTP API | HTTP API | | Vendor | Amazon Web Services | FGRibreau SARL | | Hosted endpoint | `https://events.us-east-1.amazonaws.com` | no (local only) | | Transports | HTTP | HTTP, stdio | | Auth | OAuth or key | API key | | Pricing | Pay per use | Freemium | | x402 | no | no | | Licence | Proprietary service under the AWS Customer Agreement. The Custom Event Bus API of 24 September 2026 adds retention, replay, ordering and publish-time deduplication. Classic `PutEvents` takes no idempotency token and answers 200 for a bus that does not exist. A person must open the AWS account. **Hook0.** Hook0 Cloud sends signed webhooks from one REST call, with a public OpenAPI document, RFC 7807 errors and service tokens that can be narrowed offline to one application, an expiry or read-only actions. Six security advisories were published between August and September 2026, one rated High. Signup needs a browser check, and no uptime commitment exists below Enterprise. ## Before you call either ### Amazon EventBridge 1. Use `aws eventsv2` and the `EventBridgeV2` SDK client for the Custom Event Bus, but write IAM actions with the `events:` prefix. A policy naming `eventsv2:` grants nothing 2. After a Classic `PutEvents` call, check `FailedEntryCount` and each entry's `ErrorCode`, then resend failed entries yourself. A request holds up to 10 entries and under 1 MB 3. Set `SystemMetadata.DeduplicationId` on Custom Event Bus entries when retrying a publish, and treat a `SuccessCode` of `DEDUPLICATED` as success 4. Set `RetryPolicy` and `OnFailureConfiguration` when creating a subscriber. The defaults stop after 5 attempts or 300 seconds, and an exhausted event is dropped 5. Store the full bus ARN. A Custom Event Bus ARN ends in a generated identifier that changes when a bus of the same name is recreated ### Hook0 1. Use a service token narrowed to one application and an expiry. A root service token covers the whole organisation, and an application secret can delete its application 2. Send your own UUID as `event_id` on `POST /api/v1/event/`. A repeat returns `EventAlreadyIngested` (409), which means the first call succeeded 3. Create the event type before sending. Unknown types fail with `EventTypeDoesNotExist`, and `labels`, `occurred_at` and `payload_content_type` are required 4. Send `payload` as a string, with JSON serialised inside it, up to 512 KiB 5. Set `HOOK0_API_URL` for `hook0-mcp` to the origin without `/api/v1`, and set `HOOK0_READ_ONLY=true` to hide the ten write tools ## Questions ### Which is better for AI agents, Amazon EventBridge or Hook0?
