Ahead on: - Schema & documentation, 77 against 69 - Agent ergonomics, 79 against 53 - Security & auth, 74 against 57 - Payments & pricing, 25 against 5 - Maintenance & community, 80 against 27 Watch for: No built-in rate limiting or brute-force protection, by the vendor's hardening page ### Particle Health (D) Good for: US providers, payers and digital health companies that need a patient's network records as FHIR or flat data, and care-event alerts. Watch for: Credentials come from a Particle representative, and the 'play for free' sign-up domain did not resolve ## Score by category | Category | Weight | Aidbox | Particle Health | Edge | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Reliability | 16% (20 this run) | 59 | 58 | Aidbox +1 | | Performance | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Schema & documentation | 13% (16.2 this run) | 77 | 69 | Aidbox +8 | | Agent ergonomics | 13% (16.2 this run) | 79 | 53 | Aidbox +26 | | Security & auth | 14% (17.5 this run) | 74 | 57 | Aidbox +17 | | Payments & pricing | 10% (12.5 this run) | 25 | 5 | Aidbox +20 | | Task success | 10%, pending | pending | pending | not scored in this run | | Maintenance & community | 7% (8.8 this run) | 80 | 27 | Aidbox +53 | | Transparency & trust | 7% (8.8 this run) | 45 | 48 | Particle Health +3 | | Negative events | ≤15 | 0 | 0 | | | **Total** | | **64.2 · B** | **48.6 · D** | | ## Facts side by side | Fact | Aidbox | Particle Health | | --- | --- | --- | | Kind | HTTP API | HTTP API | | Vendor | Health Samurai, Inc. | Particle Health, Inc. | | Hosted endpoint | no (local only) | no (local only) | | Transports | HTTP, Streamable HTTP, SSE (legacy) | HTTP | | Auth | OAuth | OAuth | | Pricing | Freemium | Paid | | x402 | no | no | | Licence | Proprietary. Monthly releases, two-year LTS lines, SMART on FHIR, AccessPolicy rules and AuditEvent logging are documented, and a free development licence needs no sales call. Aidbox has no rate limiting of its own, its MCP module is alpha, and no terms of service were found on the website. **Particle Health.** Particle queries Carequality, CommonWell, eHealth Exchange and state HIEs for a patient and returns FHIR R4B, flat data or C-CDA, with project-scoped 60-minute tokens and OpenAPI fragments per endpoint. Credentials come through a representative, the free sign-up link was dead on 14 October 2026, and rate limits, SLA and changelog are unpublished. ## Before you call either ### Aidbox 1. Ask the operator for a Client with an AccessPolicy limited to the task. Don't rely on the public MCP policy, which the docs mark unsafe 2. Use `If-None-Exist` on creates and conditional update on identifiers so retries don't duplicate records 3. Use `_elements` and `_count` to keep responses small, and follow the Bundle's paging links 4. Throttle yourself. Aidbox applies no rate limit, so a burst lands on the customer's database 5. Don't load real patient data into an instance on a development licence ### Particle Health 1. Pass `projects/` as the scope when requesting a token, and request a new one every 60 minutes 2. Poll Get Query Status, or wait for the query-complete webhook, before reading FHIR or flat data 3. Back off on 429, since limits change with system load 4. Pass continuation tokens back verbatim when paging 5. Use the published synthetic patients in sandbox, and stay under 500 queries a day ## Questions ### Which is better for AI agents, Aidbox or Particle Health?
